Made the pass for the penalty and showed some decent movement in other parts, but not much to see on the highlights. Our ex-youngster Button should've done better with the Norwich goal, but made a few decent saves apart from that. Bit of an improvement on the 5 they conceded in the last game. Looks like he was used in the midfield.
You're being a little unfair on Button there. Looked to me like the defender just in front of him got a touch leaving him with no chance. Some of his other saves were top class.
Maybe. Did seem to get pushed in the buildup too, but I never like to see a keeper get beaten at his near post like that.
Our former keeper David Button conceded the penalty. Vejlkovic and Ball start for their respective clubs today, while Coulthirst is on the bench. Hall and McEvoy didn't make the matchday squads, though.
I hope we see Carroll in a Spurs shirt next season too, his running stats (yes I know stats don't tell a whole story and that running stats aren't everything but anyway) seem to show that despite the impression that I think we all have of him being a bit lightweight, he does put a shift in. Mason isn't the biggest but gets about well and breaks up play, you don't have to be Capoue or Sandro. And Carroll is a handy passer and technician too. Alli scored again in a 1-0 away win for MK Dons against Colchester. The jump from League 1 to the Premiership is considerable so I have no idea if he will make it straight away at his age, but its nice to see him doing well towards the end of this chapter of his career at least.
Seeing that clip it does make me worried that Alli might be a little confused when he comes up against defenders who will actually move. Little wonder Colchester are in the relegation places when defenders play like that at 0-0 in the 44th minute.
In league 1 he'll play against some good defences. Sheff Utd, Bradford, Preston - who Utd had to cheat to score against - to name a few who have done well in cups.
Alex Pritchard gave Brentford the lead just before half-time, after Pugh had brought Bournemouth level. The game finished 3-1 to the hosts and our youngster played the full game. Man of the Match and got the assist for the two goals that he didn't score, apparently. Grant Hall got Blackpool's goal as they drew with Blackburn at Ewood Park. A decent point for the bottom club, but they need much more than that at this stage. Ryan Fredericks wasn't in Boro's squad, as they lost 1-0 to Leeds. Presumably an injury, as he's done well. Tom Carroll also missed out completely, as Swansea beat Man Utd. Player of the Month, so I guess that's an injury, too.
A quick mention for another ex-Spur,Dean Parrett scored late on to ensure that they beat Southend 4-2. Still only 23, seems he has been around a long time really.
Dele Alli picked up an ankle injury, which will rule him out for six weeks: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/loan-watch-feb-23-230215/
I was at Wycombe today and it was good to see Dean Parrett show signs he is still a good footballer. I thought he was the best Stevenage player by some distance and although he plays at a slower pace these days, and without quite the same energy levels he showed in his Spurs youth days, he can still influence games. Such a pity he lost his way for a few years.
Pritchard nicked another one tonight in Brentford's 4-1 win over Huddersfield. He played the full 90 minutes again and scored via a deflection, as his side dominated possession and chances. Ryan Fredericks put in another full game for Boro as they strolled past Millwall at The Riverside. He missed their 2-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday, played in their 1-0 win over Bolton and missed their 1-0 loss to Leeds. Seems like they win and keep a clean sheet when he's in the team and lose and fail to score when he doesn't. Bit odd, as he doesn't seem to have much involvement in their goals.
