What if we sell him to Fulham with a sell-on clause, so if Hughes moves to Villa and decides he wants to sign Bentley, we'll make a tidy sum again?
I haven't given up on GDS yet. He scored two goals against New Zealand yesterday. Ok they aren't the toughest of opponents, but I would like to see him given one last chance. I fear it's too late for him though.
Maybe he should be kept for use in League Cup or Europa League, or even as a backup for Lennon. When Lennon isn't on his best form he may as well be given a chance, just like O'Hara for Bale etc.
Gio hasn't shown any kind of quality in a Spurs shirt, his opportunities have been limited and he is young but he has failed to impress on each of his loan spells. If he really wants to come back, work hard and earn a place in the side then I'm not against him staying. I can't really see it happening though.
I think that Dos Santos is one of those players that needs to be playing every week to get the best out of him and that's never going to happen at Spurs, as he won't do enough to force his way into the side. I was thoroughly annoyed at the way that he was used against Arsenal in the Carling Cup though, as both him and Bentley were played on the wrong side.
It probably wouldn't have hurt last season to have played GDS as a striker. He couldn't have done much worse...
He might have actually been useful from the bench, as a replacement on either wing or in van der Vaart's role, especially with the frequency that the Dutchman seemed to flag.
Unleashing his pace in a game we were looking to chase a late winner could've won us a few extra points - providing GDS didn't shoot directly at the opposing goalkeeper, like everyone else seemed so intent on doing...
Finishing actually seems to be one of his stronger points, from what I've seen of him. He's not afraid to hit it from a distance and he's got a decent shot on him.
Judging by his stats, he does seem to have the attributes to be an impact sub at the very least... Ipswich: 8 apps, 4 goals, 1 assist Galatasaray: 18 appearances, 0 goals, 3 assists Santander: 15 appearances, 5 goals, 3 assists ...problem is, Pav and Crouch are also good impact subs up front - but, as suggested, if he was backup for VDV it could work out.
