Loach Dropped?

I think it's just an odd time W_Y. After a long season and a summer with the under-21s, there was a good opportunity to let Gilmartin start the season without doing too much damage. By all accounts there is no more self-motivating person in the squad than Rene, and if/when he was eventually dropped he would have gotten over it.

If on the other hand we have no long term confidence in our #1, signalling it three months before we can do anything about it strikes me as risky.
 
good points there NNW. Is Jonathan Bond loaned for a year? Even with him back, i don't think he's ready either...this does smack of a panic...and i'm not sure it was the best move. Time will tell, but it's certainly SD's most controversial decision so far!

I think now SD has made this decision he has to give Rene a go at st marys , no one is expecting too much ,so it might be the perfect time to give him 2 or 3 games to have a proper look at his temperament, I will be hoping he will talk to his defenders a bit more than Scott did! Tony Coton could make himself heard in a noisy stadium ,one reason why he was such a good keeper was that he marshalled his defence well and people knew what was happening!

Like I have said previously, get Loachy down to a local barracks oh yeah RAF Halton isn't a million miles away and get him on the drill square! Shouting commands out, so he is heard above all else! Also get him doing some bayonet training, get him angry and raring to go. Too much of a pussy if you ask me, not exactly scary is he? Forwards should be wary of him, put the doubt in their mind not his!

I think From The Rookery End had an idea along those lines a while back.
 
I have to say i was rather shocked to see that Loach had been dropped, simply because i was sudden and RG had had no game time. However i think Rene gave a good account of himself, he was not afraid to come off his line and collect high balls, nor was he afraid to slide in at strikers feet. I would rather see Loach as the first choice, but i have a lot more respect for Gilmartin after last night.
 
NNW - I get the feeling that words have been said in the changing room and maybe out of it as well and that added to SD's decision..i.e. he believes the players lack confidence in Loach.

From my seat behind the goal in the Rookery I can hear SL calling and shouting at the defence. The main problem is IMO is that Mariapa does not listen to him.
 
Well thats nice to know Stevies , coz if he is communicating with his defence ,that was one of my reservations about him , know if he would command his box ..........
 
I think SL does shout..unfortunately he then has second thoughts. Over the last season or so he has made a number of these which have been blamed on other players,one that stands out in my mind is the goal everybody saw either in person or on TV where he blasted the ball into Bennett, who had moved to the right to get out of the way,which was the correct way as SL should have put the ball into Occupation Road. Who suffered for it? bennett.
Lady H thanks for putting me right about Bond,one of the loans I missed...who did he go to?

I think you will find that Dale Bennett actually did not move enough. Loach is left footed so it is easier for him to blast it down field in that position. Bennett just runs in front of Loach and stops. Loach was actually in the perfect position to launch an attack from where he was.

Dyche's whole approach is based upon "creating competition for places"--that is why he has brought so many players in, and is what he thinks will motivate them. So dropping Loach (who might have seemed to be one of the "untouchables" in the team) sends a signal to everyone that Dyche is a tough manager . prepared to take tough decisions, and no ones place is safe--even yours, Marvin--and no one should take anything for granted. How will the players react? Do they buy into this approach? It remains to be seen. But since Dyche is not proposing any tactical evolution in the team --his tactics are quite basic actually-- this "motivation by competition" seems to be what we must expect .
 
I think it's been clear from the start that Dyche wasn't sure about Marvin starting twice a week every week. We needed strikers, but we wouldn't have signed Garner if Marvin had one of those places sewn up.
 
I think your in cloud cuckoo land. Sordel isour best player and one of two who could play at ahigher level. Befire you start slagging ms off count the balls too feet to him. Hes obviously being played up top on the shoulder of the defender- hence offsides will happen.suggestions of lazinesss are laughable- hes the pacy striker so should be up toop
 
I could justify calling him lazy as when ever the keeper has the ball in hand Sordell will pressure him but then take 2/3 mins to get back to level with the last man, never mind into space to receive the ball.
