My point being that you should be bothered about your own club and it's false promises instead of latching onto what the papers say about Spurs because it suits your agenda...are you feeling ok bothered about us when your club is nothing but Manchester's bitch and RVP stated that your club broke promises...the stick your trying to beat Spurs with?

Of course he hasn't played for us.

Stick? Trying to beat you with?

Listen, if my commenting really upsets you so much I am happy to make a deal with you. I'll stay off your board if you stay off ours.

Alternatively, you can try and debate without reverting to type all the time :)

What were these lies that Levy is claimed to have made, then?
Kranjcar claimed that he said he'd sell Modric this summer. He did.
Stimac claimed that there was an agreement to sell Modric to Madrid, if they made a bid for him. He did.
What did Modric even claim? He seemed to be doing all of his talking via his mates.

Villas-Boas has done absolutely nothing wrong with regards to Lloris.
He's new to English football and the weakest part of his game seems to be deal with aerial balls and crosses, which will be exaggerated in this division, so he'll need time to bed in.
Anyone that buys Deschamp's obvious, underhand and rather pathetic criticism is either a moron or blindly biased.
Take your pick.

Ignoring COYG's attempts at a contribution (if regurgitating rumours heard on Talksport count as a contribution...), the fact is you don't just chuck a goalkeeper into the mix at the first opportunity. There's a number of goalkeeperrs who had iffy starts at their new clubs - De Gea, Gomes, Lehmann, Tim Howard, Richard Wright, David James, Brad Friedel, Jerzy Dudek - because they went straight into competitive football without having time to bed in. Fridel, Howard and James had to leave Liverpool/Man Utd/Liverpool in order to salvage their reputations...whilst Lehmann was also a clanger merchant at Milan and Dortmund, which implies Arsenal's scout in Germany is phoning it in.

Look at Tim Krul - he was on the books at Newcastle for five years before stepping up and becoming their first choice keeper, whilst it was a couple of seasons before Szczesny was first-choice at Arsenal.

HBIC, all valid points but Lloris won't see it this way, so AVB has to keep him happy, as if AVB wants to be a success, he has to learn how to get players on side and create a happy squad, as if the players aren't happy then he won't be here very long.

I wasn't impressed with AVB talking to the press, it wasn't very tactile, especially considering Lloris made a big move away from France, and lets not forget he is widely considered to be one of the best keepers in the world, we're lucky to have got him for the price we did.

AVB should have kept this all in-house, sat down with Friedel and Lloris and explained the situation, not be talking to the press before Lloris has even had a chance to get to know the squad.

I thought you liked managers who talked to the press. <laugh>

AVB has to earn the right to mouth off to the press, it takes years of experience to master (and get a saggy face), then he can say whatever he likes!

Well in that case I'll see you on the next Spurs thread that shines positive light on our club...just so that you can praise Spurs.... But for some reason I only notice you and some others on threads which you can try to twist.

P.s I only end up on your board when I feel the need to defend my club because you lot are discussing it with your tints on.

anyway back to the thread Lioris needs to shut up if this is true.

<hug>

<laugh> Earning implies a benefit. Speaking to the press! <yikes>

In any case it hardly matters what you say, they will write what suits their agenda, but then I'm sure you would not take the press seriously Boss would you!

BTW do you want him to be tactile with the press.<hug>

Spurf, my issue was with what AVB said to the press, not made up quotes or opinions from the press.

It stands to reason that AVB should be allowing Lloris time to settle with the squad before he discusses the situation, otherwise a situation (like what has happened) will occur, he doesn't appear to have the best man management skills.

and anyway, everyone on here believes what the press writes in some capacity (including you spurf!), you only need to look at half the articles that use quotes, or people read an article or piece of gossip and convince themselves its true because they like what they read!

You see that bit on newspapers where it lists the price. I believe that.

Having read all views here, well the sensible ones anyway, in hindsight all 3 (AVB, BF, and HL) would have done better not to comment so early on the situation. The question from the media was inevitable, and may have caught them out, a prepared answer would have been wise.

has anyone actually seen Hugo's comments, with the surrounding interview (or whatever it was)? It does strike me as something that was probably said in French, poorly translated to English and then taken completely out of context.
What sort of professional footballer doesn't expect to have to fight for their place? Especially an international who has been around a while.

Similarly with the "i'll discuss it when i get back from international duty" comment. He probably just said "i'll talk to the manager when i return", which he undoubtebly will, along with all the other players.

I wouldn't be surprised if everything was rosy behind the scenes.

i agree Lloris should become our number 1, but you can't just go throwing him into the side willy-nilly regardless of whether he's french captain (i'm not sure what relevance that has, being french captain does not make you better than everyone).
He should go in when he's ready.
AVB's comment is basically saying "everyone has to fight for their spot". Surely a good thing? If Lloris is unwilling to fight for a place in the team then frankly he can bugger off back to france for all i care.
If Brad keeps Hugo out then so be it. Brad earned us a point in the last match and should be retained for at least 1 game and possibly more because of that. Lloris needs to prove in training that he is ready and a better choice than Brad in THIS league and in THIS team

Er, it matters BIG TIME that he's captain of France, it's a good indicator of what he is, a top class goalkeeper

AVB's comment is disrespectful to Lloris and I'd far rather AVB bugger off back to Prtugal, than him bring him in a top class international player and start ****ing him about

Lloris is clearly a better choice IN THIS League than 'stay on your line' Brad, and I will be massively pissed off with AVB if Lloris isn't No.1 choice either by Reading or very soon thereafter.

As I said before, Adebayor didn't go straight in to the starting 11 under AVB, neither did Dembele, neither did Vertonghen and Sigurdsson was benched for the second match. If Lloris arrived on the understanding that he's doing us a favour then he's mistaken, he can fight for his place like everyone else in the squad does.

It remains to be seen whether any of this is true, althoug ESPN don't usually report quotes if they're not from the player.

Lloris is doing us a massive favour, so he isn't mistaken about that. How we got the French captain to sign for us I don't know, but he's right up there with Bale as a world-rated star.

I agree with Spurm, places in the 1st team should be on merit, not as some posters are saying because he cost a lot and is captain of his national team.
Brad hasn't done anything to warrant being dropped, although I suspect that when he loses his place he will do so with grace and class, but until then...

Places should be on merit and Lloris has more merit than Brad. I't's frankly an insult to him to expect him to have to prove he's number one. I suspect he's already regretting joining us, with a manager like AVb and so many unsupportive fans, if this forum is anything to go by.
