I think he was expected to get one of the automatic promotions, that is now looking unlikely, along with some dire results, 6-0 to Bolton being the most recent, it also sounds like he may be unpopular too,a combination of all these things were probably the cause rather than one thing alone.

Some of the defeats away from home have been big ones too a 5-1 pasting at Rotherham, 4-0 at Portsmouth and the 6-0 drubbing at Bolton at the weekend. Seems that they just gave up in all those games after going a couple of goals down..
So no surprise he's been sacked if you also include recent run ins with Sunderland supporters and opposition players against Lincoln.
Let's see where he resurfaces next...… Weymouth maybe ?

probably correct in so much as disagreed with owner .. they had things going on to be able to do 3 or 4 transactions on last couple of days .. LJ didnt approve? and being gifted a couple billion owns the world,, and SAFC SO DO AS ISAY or out .... !
I wonder if the signing of Jermain Defoe created issues with LJ, big local superstar, massive, established hero with the fans, perhaps it was to big a scenario for LJ to handle, he may have objected to that signing, in his mind it would have brought a bigger influence to the team than he contributed, so he had to go, that does make some sense.

You will have to provide a link for that, every report I have read has said he was sacked including the official club statement.
All the reports WILL say he was sacked. He was.
I was suggesting that he could have knowingly provoked his sacking. Behaving in a way he KNEW would get himself sacked.
That way he gets paid off.
If he resigned he would have got nothing.
He could also have discovered a cure for the common cold? But I wouldn’t have quoted it as if it were a fact as you did in your original “that’s why he walked” claim.
He did a good job, but that was never going to be enough for Sunderland fans. He will get another job but needs to take one on his own terms where he is in charge and does things his way, including recruitment.
Whether it's having a disagreement with the owners and essentially signing yourself out of a job because you don't agree with their policies, or whether it was just plain being sacked, prospective new employers will probably think twice about employing him, and I honestly can't see him being offered anything any good, assuming he even returns to football management as I understand he also does property development.

LJ will have to take a lower/lesser club on to prove his worth IMO, unless a struggling championship club needs saving!!
But he has to do it on his own terms, otherwise it’s the man in the suit that will claim all of the good stuff, like saving a championship club, profits from transfers and keep his job when LJ gets sacked again and even find another club and manager reputations to ruin.
I'm not sure his CV is that bad - most football managers get sacked many times, so a sacking isn't the humiliating 'blot' that it is for employees of most 'normal' industries. He hasn't got any promotions under his belt but he has no relegations either. He won the Mickey Mouse Cup and with Sunderland and set Barnsley up to win it before jumping ship to us. He stabilised us and cemented us in the Championship when we were in freefall under Cotts, giving us a memorable cup run along the way and he kept Sunderland in the promotion race during his time there.
Ultimately, his efforts at both ourselves and Sunderland were not good enough and he was sacked by both clubs, but IMHO he's far from unemployable amongst the pool of football managers. Besides, along his management journey he's gathering valuable experience, which could only help him.
That having been said, you are right regarding his property portfolio - he probably doesn't need the stress of football management - in fact, I'm amazed at how many people remain in the high-adrenaline business, where your line reports earn far more that you and vitriol by the fans and a sacking are just a bad result away - especially older people like Warnock or Hodgson - not good for the old ticker!!!
