I feel for Holy. I have no reason to dislike him, but the only thing we’ve learnt tonight is that he should never play for us again.

What did we think?

Back to conceding the customary 2 goals through the usual ineptitude. Overall we were less flustered but it was all a bit flat.

barrie- did nothing to convince me he’s the new grealish.

Carol-didn’t see enough of his fabled great passing to justify starting in the league. Not sure what else he did. Better than Harper though?

Chaplin-still not sure what he’s good at. Did nothing much. Prepared to persist with him though given there’s no one obviously better.

morsy- played well. Gave confidence to the team and sured up what has been an ineffective area so far. But booked already. He’ll be suspended as often as not. How do we cope without him??

The losing habit continues.

Who would have predicted we would lose 5-2 on Saturday?!I decided several Seasons ago that trying to predict the score was a mug’s game. For one Season I used a convoluted dice roll system, this Season I’m sticking with a standing prediction of 2-1 to Town on the basis that….even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day!

(Extra points for recognising the film quote!)

Witnail and I?

Back to the thread....Town will shock everyone and win!!

He’s not done himself any favours tonight digging the second string players out. The rested players will not want to see that for their teammates. I think we will carry on the trajectory and he’ll be gone in a few weeks.

I'm guessing you're all as deflated as me after last sat...

Lincoln seems scary after they spanked cambridge. but then they lost to Bolton earlier in the season.. so its a topsy turvy division and we're defining the turvy end for sure...

Certainly our performance last sat is not a trajectory we can see continue, even as soon as Lincoln. For me, sticking with PC through the thin times means abiding by narrow losses, unlucky draws etc etc as a team finds its feet and a high risk/high reward system evolves from match to match

It doesn't mean taking a group of players cherry picked from other teams (take Burgess-Accrington fans were weeping at his departure) and seeing them play like total muppets who haven't been coached in their lives.

if they aren't fit enough, or good enough(?) or whatever, to play this system (now or in the future). don't play this system. or perhaps adjust it to a less high level of intensity and reliance on attack and evolve it as confidence and fitness and familiarity grow?

The big glaring omission for me (with the benefit of hindsight) in the revolution isn't the lack of Richardson, i dont buy into the idea Richardsonn is this mythical figure that made it all happen with Cook as the front man. But I do see we have 47 pros at the club and 3 coaches who have little experience and one manager who, despite his impressive record, just doesn't sound very credible whenever i listen to him speak. he just contradicts himself: 'I dont blame players publicly'. yes you do, you totally hung the squad you inherited out to dry. the list goes on. but ive had faith until this wobble now in his previous record, because what's not to like about it, right?

If we get a result v West Ham tonight and signs of some match fitness and familiarity can be seen to demonstrate a better collective performance that will help. But I can't escape the comments that this was a 'nothing competition' and now its 'A Big Deal'-this sort of 'my mate Dave down the pub said...', level of expertise/contradictory comments from PC do irritate me. And btw, i do like my mate dave from the pub...Anyway; more recently he said 'You'll see a different team when we have the Sam Morsy's playing." Well, there's only one Morsy, and if he's so vital, why haven't you signed someone who can deputise when he's injured/suspended given you're saying he's so important...?)

So I'm afraid of this Lincoln game. I'm going 4-1 and Ashton is fast dialling Chris Wilder for some initial chats about what he's doing on a saturday afternoon these days...

Completely agree with the majority of this post but I'm prepared to give him quite a bit more time and that's not based on what I've seen in his time her at PR because he seems to keep making big mistakes but it's due to his previous record and the fact this is undoubtedly his team, there's no argument there. As I said at the end of last season he's taken a very high risk approach which if it doesn't work leaves him with no room to manoeuvre and he will fall on his sword pretty quick.

For me the team looks good enough and I think on the face of it we have recruited very well, it's tactically we are falling short, there's too much space in the full back positions which puts too much pressure on the CBs and CMs plus as I said would happen because we've recruited a whole squad over 1 transfer window they don't look fit.

Definitely also agree with the contradictions with what he says, to me he doesn't sound too different to Lambert, the thing is I had sympathy for Lambert due to the restrictions he was working under and understood that the bluff was because he was trying to protect the players (and probably Evans), Cook doesn't have that excuse.

It looked a 442 shape after the goal when they started but I agree the line up would lend to a 433 or 4231. Can’t tell now it’s bloody broken!

norwood looks good again didn’t he? He would be preferable in the bartering ram position if Bonne is injured. Piggot looks out of place. He loools like he needs a partner up front. Seeing as the 10 position hasn’t been claimed perhaps he could do a good job there…?

If fit, I think Norwood should he ahead of Bonne. Bonne has done very well but feel Norwood has that nastiness and more aggression to his game which is need if playing 1 uptop and having a high press....either that or play them both together please. I'm currently not sure where Piggott fits in all this though
