in truth is a goal only nunez or jota would score. gakpo won't make those runs.

it's also a goal west sham should have dealt with as its a straight chip over the top really. it came from nowhere as all other options were sealed off.

we need that variety of approaches. a few more shots from distance would be nice next. macallister and Szoboszlai and even trent from cb lol.. they'd all be well capable.

    just as a point

this block of 4 was Wolves, West ham, Spurs, Brighton. With only West ham at home. Thats IMO a tough block with 3 top half teams i nthere.

Our next block of 4 is
    Everton (h)
    Nottingham Forest (h)
    Luton Town (a)
    Brentford (h)

3 home games with partial opening of anfield road upper tier possible. nothing less than 12 point sis really acceptable there in a title race and nothing less than 10 in a top 4 race.

If after 12 games you were offered. 30 points out of 36 I think most of us would have said yes please.

If we only draw v Brighton and spurs and win the rest that is actually possible.

Szoboszlai, macallister and nunez form is making this posisble, salah is in form and continuing his form. Diaz is really only working up to it imo (which might be scary for some teams)

plus assists. Assist v lask and assist v villa.

6 goal involvements in 7 games.

salah on 8 in 7 and diaz on 3.

BTW special mention to macallister and szobozlai who are both on 88% pass accuracy form the games so far. Which from midfield is not too shabby at all. Only the cbs get higher as they have dolly passes usually.

well, Utd is a dolly too on current form. Brighton and Arsenal can hurt them but normally, I’d see them as too open and City’s quality will show. Losing Rodri for 3 games will hurt them mind….

Just a technicality but - is the second goal in a 3-1 winner "the winner"?
By that token the first goal in a 7-0 win is the winner too.
It's arguable, but more common is a phrase like the goal that puts you in the lead, or variations on that.
To me "the winner" is only really correct in a one-goal margin game.

They'll drop points somewhere, but often it isn't where expected.

IF we get six points from Spurs and Brighton in our next two games, I would say we're certainly on course to do that. City naturally have a more world-renown squad and a points advantage now, but if we can knock off a couple more top four rivals it will begin to look a bit more destined that we could overtake them, if just for a while.

I still have my doubts we can challenge all season for the title though... but if we're top at Xmas you couldn't help but start to have a little more solid hope.

I'd like to know how Szoboszlai manages to clone himself during a game. He's everywhere. I'd swear sometimes he does a brilliant pass that he's also on the end of.

Nunez is an enigma: causes so much chaos, misses sitters and then scores an incredible goal. Sublime pass by Macca for his goal in this game. And Salah is rejuvenating before our very eyes.

Technicality I guess. Point was more he’s scoring goals at important stages of the game rather than scoring the 7th in a 7-0 win.

Or doing a Lukaku as Astro would refer to it.

Yeah, I understood what you were saying and agree with it.
I was just thinking that for me "the winner" is a goal that ends up being the difference between the two sides.

What's more important to me is that missing chances doesn't seem to bother him that much, he just carries on and scores the next, and usually more difficult, chance.
