I still think that when we fell away a few years back with Rodgers in charge, we lost the title because he got injured. Very under-rated player and influencer on and off the pitch.

Since this time last year (when Fabinho was out injured), Hendo has significantly raised his game. One of our key performers since then. He has managed to develop his game further and credit to him.

Hendo and Gini (and Thiago) are in their prime but what in 2 years? I’ve assumed that Fab will remain in defence but at 27 he has longer and potentially an extra couple of years in defence. Jones looks assured. But Keita, while good, is fragile....and Milner is gone, with best wishes, this summer.

There was big hope that Keita would be the main guy in midfield but injuries have really plagued him. Ox is also unreliable. Fabinho should be moved back into midfield once we have some defenders. Jones has a lot of potential.

I do think we will look to bring in a couple of more midfielders over the next 1-2 years. There were rumours that we're interested in Bissouma (Brighton) who looks pretty good.

I forgot about Ox <doh>

but yeah, another sick note and I don’t think that Klopp trusts him 100% since his injury.

I’m not knowledgeable enough about the next batch of kids coming through and whether some would likely break through.....but I’d agree that we need to buy Our next midfield general to replace Milner in the summer. Our midfielders get plenty of game time so this should not hold anyone back from joining.

Chart to show passing value vs passing efficiency.

Players further right add the most value with their passes, players higher up complete them at a higher rate. Trent the most valuable, Stones the most efficient, Keita and Mahrez the best of both.

I mentioned this in another thread but thought it would be good to put in here ...

It is incredibly strange how United get so many penalties when looking at the relationship with number of touches in the box. What's weirder is how few penalties we get.
