Trent is not really great can't be dribbled past when klopp is berating you for running the up past the midfielder then jogging back after the ball has gone 40 yards over your head.
Not sure it does make it more impressive? Your assuming that players get the ball and dribble past him while he’s high up the pitch. But more likely they ping the ball into the space behind him while he’s up the pitch.
Ah sorry, yes I see your point. But I suppose to works both ways. There’s more space in behind him so it should be easier for attackers to get in behind (either long ball or dribbled). Will have to look at the absolute numbers of dribbled attempted against him.
Agreed. My main point was that as a stand alone stat it means nothing really, however combine it with other stats it can be useful and show a more relevant picture of how good he is
Not sure if this helps but if you look at the Tkl% column, Trent still comes out on top. This metric is calculated by: Dribblers Tackled / (Dribblers Tackled * No of times dribbled past)
Most unsurprising stats of the day but you can see our ground and aerial dominance went down massively this season. Our ground duels went down to an average level but the aerial duels is well below average. VVD is absolutely crucial to our backline, which will only get stronger with the likes of Matip and Konate next to him (Gomez will also be a good partner but not from an aerial standpoint). please log in to view this image
Bar our final finishing, our attacking play has remained in line with prior years. As per below, we created a lot of opportunities: please log in to view this image And as per below, we were still getting the ball into the final 3rd and penalty area at the same rate as prior years. please log in to view this image No surprises here but as you can see, we still scored a pretty decent amount of goals last season (slight underperformance vs prior years) but it's the finishing that really screwed us up ... please log in to view this image
This may come as a shock to some but overall, the pressing from the attack and midfield remained quite high. Overall umbers are low but that is in line with the rest of Europe having to hold back with pressing due to the hectic fixture schedule. please log in to view this image
Not all of these stats are the best to use but there is zero comparison between Dias of this season vs VVD of the previous seasons. please log in to view this image
Perception is fine. But I rather deal in absolutes and it's clear as day that VVD is by far the best CB in the world who had a bigger impact on his club, and Salah has been and still is world class.
Or just watched our season. No need for fancy graphs or charts to know we were **** in January and February!
