Comments are only deleted if they are offensive or seriously off topic. Mods have to abide by the rules as well and if you feel we are abusing our 'power' then have a word with Syd or Mick. I can't see that PNP has don't anything wrong, no1 wants to come onto a forum and just read page after page of tit for tat arguing which isn't relevant to football let alone Spurs.
They are not cast iron are they? Thought the club would have been better to come out and state that he didn't with the player to end the speculation once and for all.
Joe Jordan saying that he's not aware of any request is slightly more convincing than a rumour that he'd made one, followed by articles saying that he hadn't. If Spurs were to issue a statement saying that he hadn't put in a request, then the papers would merely speculate that he'd put one in the next day.
As a rule, the club won't make a statement to deny speculation, especially if it's to do with transfers as Levy would never get a chance to actually sign anyone.
I guess we'll never know until it all comes out one day? I got the impression that Levy was keeping stum until the last minute to get the maximum fee like in the Berbatov sage?
Levy didn't want to sell Berbatov either and he certainly didn't want to sell him to the team that (allegedly) tapped him up, but the Bulgarian went on strike and then went to the wrong club in Manchester. Have Chelsea even upped their initial bid, officially?
I think Chelsea confirmed the second bid of £27mill, they seem to be happy enough letting all their bids leak, at the moment.
Knowing Daniel Levy we will sell Modric 2 hours before the deadline and then try and find someone else 30mins before it closes and it will be one of those where we have to wait to see if the paper work went through in time.
I wont agonise Luke, if you follow professional football you have to expect this seedy side of the game. The trick is not to swallow all the spurious speculation in the press and wait and see what happens. If once the season starts we are not better than last season then the dissapointment looms. Following Spurs is always interesting, we are often close to doing something only to fall when nearly home. Much more interesting than United where you always expect to win something (in recent years anyway). Fulham supporters got much more value out of their recent eufa run than a (bigger) team would. The journey is always more exciting than the arrival, unless you fly of course like Man C. when it is not really a journey anyway. If Man C. win we will all think; so they should with all that cash, no glory there. Money might get you there but at the cost of an exciting route. Spurs rich enough to be up there but not rich enough to guarantee it, so the potential for glory remains.
I agree entirely, if you're a Chelsea supporter, you're disappointed when you don't win every week - with Spurs there is an air of excitement, and how we will go on to greater things.
Personally, I don't think £35mm would be anywhere close enough to tempt Levy. Also, I don't expect Modric to leave this summer. January? possibly. We'll have to wait and see how the season pans out.
if we manage to get the russian gangster to offer 40 mil + drogba/sturridge (maybe even both) then it will be extremely stupid for levy not to accept it, that would be great business
