I think we've ditched the whole 'manager' concept - ETH will be the talking head for matchday/media etc but his job and that of his staff will simply be to coach and select the matchday squad, all other facets of the job will be handled by other grown ups.

RVN would be an obvious upgrade on McCarthy but I imagine he would only take the job if he didn't get the Burnley post.
With RVN now in, it is clear that Ratcliffe is taking an astute and strategic approach to managing the team’s operations. This explains why there was no sense of rush to get rid of ETH. Effectively, the decoupling of the manager’s role into defined structures that report to upper management as opposed to the team’s manager, makes the role of the manager ‘plug and play’. If the manager has to leave for a new one, the process becomes less disruptive for the overall team’s operations.

ETH seems like he has absolutely no idea with transfers. IMO

What's the plane here - just sign the entire Dutch National team?

You must mean Van Hojlund, Van Onana, Van der Martinez, Van Antoni, Van Casimero - all those Dutch players........
Let’s face it, I don’t think there’s been any earth shattering events on the transfer front. If we get just the two Dutch players we are linked with, they will more or less become squad players.

But if we can get someone like Toney, then….

I am hoping in my dreams that we are going back to the Fergie/Gill days when there was loads speculation (press certanty) that we were chasing everyone only for us to announce the signing of someone off grid and out of the blue.

Evra and Vidic anyone?

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee.
The fee is understood to be just over £35m (€42.5m) - above the £33.6m (€40m) release clause.
However, it is in exchange for more favourable payment terms. It means United will not pay a lump sum up-front but pay over a three-year period.

Sounds like we´ve finally learned how to do business........

Couple of positives there.

De ligt sounding imminent too.

Negative? Sancho back in training.
If he has his head on straight and is prepared to knuckle down and play for the team (and replace Antoni), then no bad thing in my book. Ugarte seems like a decent midfield warrior too - time will tell but the signs are promising.

Hopefully he gets nowhere near the first team any time soon.

Not sure what Anthony has done to deserve being replaced by Sancho!

If ETH can get over whatever the issue is, can we not respect that? We need creativity in that midfield and Antony is not the answer.

Zirkzee signs five year deal.

Malacia back in training.

Talk of Toney being keen on a move
I have only seen him at the Euro's and must say i wasn't impressed.
I wonder where this leaves Rasmus and if it will stall his development, Tony joiining as well would mean the end of him which would be a shame because i think he will go on to be a great striker.

Can't just have one striker in a squad for a league and three cup competitions.
Oh i know that but Rashford is allegedly a striker and we have a couple of lad doing quite well in the U21s who hven't been tried yet.
I have no problem bringing one recognised striker in but two just seem to cut off any route for those already at the club.

Let’s just hope the folks under the new football structure know what they are really doing. I like the Idea of Toney, but I’m not sure why we are buying this new striker that barely scored in Italy and where that puts Hojlund.

Rashford literally sulks if he's asked to play as central forward.

He can't be considered one.

I think it's gone quiet on Toney, can't see us going for him now we've signed Zirkzee
but you never know.
