With RVN now in, it is clear that Ratcliffe is taking an astute and strategic approach to managing the team’s operations. This explains why there was no sense of rush to get rid of ETH. Effectively, the decoupling of the manager’s role into defined structures that report to upper management as opposed to the team’s manager, makes the role of the manager ‘plug and play’. If the manager has to leave for a new one, the process becomes less disruptive for the overall team’s operations.I think we've ditched the whole 'manager' concept - ETH will be the talking head for matchday/media etc but his job and that of his staff will simply be to coach and select the matchday squad, all other facets of the job will be handled by other grown ups.
RVN would be an obvious upgrade on McCarthy but I imagine he would only take the job if he didn't get the Burnley post.
