You remain incoherent in your arguments. I'm going to point out the precise incoherence that you continue to display in an effort to defend Maguire which in my opinion is petty as his record at the club speaks for itself.
- You just stated that you have never slated Southgate. Yet in the very same post, you are suggesting that England will never win anything with him in charge. Sure, you haven't directly called Southgate a donkey, but we can infer that from your perspective, Southgate might as well be a donkey waging his tale every time England plays.
- The assertion of "media" mistreatment of Maguire simply does not hold up. You have simply conjured up that nonsense to validate your indefensible position that Mr. fkin Maguire, just ain't that bad a defender. But what exactly is the role of the media in the simple fact that Maguire has simply not performed well enough to justify a starting place in the team? What role did the media play in ETH starting Luke Shaw in central position with Maguire fully fit on the bench? Did the media get into Harry's head to cost us the match against Seville? I could ask you a million questions in this regard.
- ETH's team setup has nothing to do with Maguire's incompetence. As stated before, his downward trend dates back several years which coincides with his summer of gangsterism in Greece. It messed with his head big time!
The fact is this; none of the criticisms that Maguire has faced are unwarranted. He has acted a donkey in defense not once, but several times. It's all well documented.
To be clear, I do not condone fans booing players. It is counterproductive! But for Maguire's sake, a fresh start is needed for him to rebuild his reputation as a trustworthy defender.
At this point, he moves, the team moves on, everyone wins!
Your point 1,
I also happen to think McTominay is ****, for instance. What I haven't done is jumped on board a section of support/media and joined in slagging someone off.
I offer an opinion, you join in a very personal campaign against someone.
Point 2;
it does stack up. Maguire is the victim of a social media narrative that he is somehow responsible for his transfer fee/his wages/his place in the England side ahead of A, B or C, whoever that individual personally would rather be in there.
It's not invented, it exists.
It's not without merit that he shouldn't be in the England side. The abuse is though. He's not even in the United side but the abuse is still there. From you even, amongst many more vocal others.
Maguire didn't cost us the Seville game, de Gea did. He's just not as convenient a scapegoat though. De Gea also cost us the FA Cup, but because he's not Maguire he didn't get the personal abuse.
Point 3, I never said Ten Hag's set up is
because of Maguire. Maguire just doesn't fit into it.
The way Ten Hag prefers to set up does not suit Maguire, it's just how it is, and as such Maguire doesn't get into the team because Martinez, Varane, Lindelof and even Shaw all fit that system better.
There's no argument that Maguire is currently fourth choice at best, but the system itself is
not because of a Maguire.
I wouldn't argue if he leaves, never have. If they put him on the list, or he asks to leave, then no worries.
I just don't believe he should be ran out of the club, he doesn't deserve any of the **** he is currently taking.
