If we get rid of all those players, we are talking about another £500m to replace them if we get lucky with fees. Pragmatically, that is not viable in the current financial environment. More likely is Amorim will need to get a beat out of most of those players before deciding to bin them.

Mount, Amad, Rashford, Dalot, even the recent Casemiro should be firm stay, Mount especially! We need to at least see more of him in an advanced system. Let’s see what the new methods can do for the squad, then reassess at the end of the season.

I added Rashford in there because he can pull in a shift when the stars are moderately aligned. Perhaps Amorim can do more of that. Garnacho is also just as wasteful from excellent positions. Those are tweaks the new methods can help reshape to get the team to score more goals which has been our number one problem.

Dalot, he could stay as a squad player but absolutely definitely only on the right had side. He's no good on the left (nor is Mazaroui). But as this then leaves us no one on the left, could indeed do with Dalot staying in the squad so they don't need to reinforce there also.

I still say the rest go though. I suppose the term 'get rid' is harsh on Casemiro, the reality is he would be unlikely to stay around for next season and should be allowed to leave.

Well he could definitely bring their striker with him, he seems the real deal.

Not sure how true this is, but possibly after Christophe Nkunku from Chelsea instead, who would be a huge upgrade.

He has something about him that doesn't come across in the printed media. He sounds like he won't take ****e from anyone, you're either on board or you're out - long overdue. Whether the sentiment stands up to the demands of the PL remains to be seen.

I was about to post something on this. I haven’t watched the interview but I have read the transcripts. It is very clear he’s not starting with excuses, especially for the young players.

"We know it will take time and we will try to win time with the games. But we have to start since day one without fear, without thinking that they are not used to playing like this. This is not on my mind. They will start on the first day with our idea, no matter what. That’s the goal."​

Another point from the interview which I agree with is that age shouldn’t be a factor when a player has been identified as quality. We have seen many young players become the fulcrum of teams even right from their teen years. I am all for that type of approach.

Also, the academy seems to have a good crop of players. Amorim should look to get players from there before heading into external transfers in my opinion.

Obviously, success or failure will be judged on results. But it never hurts to set the bar of what’s expected very high for what is obviously a talented but underperforming group. At very least, start getting results against the teams outside of the top six. Stop losing games at home regardless of who we are playing, ffs!! If we can do that consistently, it will move us up as a club.
