That’s a very long list, Chief. If we get rid of all those players, we are talking about another £500m to replace them if we get lucky with fees. Pragmatically, that is not viable in the current financial environment. More likely is Amorim will need to get a beat out of most of those players before deciding to bin them. Mount, Amad, Rashford, Dalot, even the recent Casemiro should be firm stay, Mount especially! We need to at least see more of him in an advanced system. Let’s see what the new methods can do for the squad, then reassess at the end of the season. I added Rashford in there because he can pull in a shift when the stars are moderately aligned. Perhaps Amorim can do more of that. Garnacho is also just as wasteful from excellent positions. Those are tweaks the new methods can help reshape to get the team to score more goals which has been our number one problem.
That right hand side of a front three might well suit Mount, but he needs to get fit. He's a waste of a squad space otherwise. Dalot, he could stay as a squad player but absolutely definitely only on the right had side. He's no good on the left (nor is Mazaroui). But as this then leaves us no one on the left, could indeed do with Dalot staying in the squad so they don't need to reinforce there also. I still say the rest go though. I suppose the term 'get rid' is harsh on Casemiro, the reality is he would be unlikely to stay around for next season and should be allowed to leave. Could swap it round for Antony and make it probably squad, but possibly get rid! We do need to absolutely get rid of Rashford and Zirkzee though, and buy an actual striker to help out Hojlund with the money accrued.
I still find it mind boggling that we didn’t go for Ivan toney. He went for what 30m in the end there or thereabouts.
This was seemingly an Ineos decision. Why would we need a tailor made, proven finished article, premier league striker when we can have a fat, slow, sloth like non goal scoring nobody because Dan Ashworth recommended him! Alarm bells clanging out everywhere. We can't blame Woodward or Ten Hag for this one!
That’s assuming he wanted to go to Saudi. If we had come in for him I’d guaranteed he will have come to us. The club wanted to cash in.
Sporting giving City a right hammering - obviously a fantastic tactician that manager of theirs..... we should sign him up
Can we just sell our shower of **** and sign the entire Sporting squad. Even selling our lot at bottom dollar we'd make a massive profit and get a huge upgrade......and ship some of their fans over too.
Well he could definitely bring their striker with him, he seems the real deal. As irrelevant as it is, this victory immediately pipes down the British media hoards who would have gone over there expecting, and wanting, City to hand him his arse so they could question his appointment before he even arrived. That's not worked out for the ****s, so this is a massive big plus and **** off to them. He did a number on City, big style.
I can imagine quite a few of our squad are ****ting themselves this morning thinking about the fitness work that is coming their way. Only a couple of our youngsters could match the running of that Sporting side....... Rashford take note.
Drum roll.........incoming manager to impress so Shaw returns to training, who'd have thought it......
No place for RVN in Amorim's coaching team - shame but the new guy can't have RVN looking over his shoulder, a clean sweep was a necessary evil.
Encouraging to hear that we will be open to offers for Zirkzee in the coming window rather than simply hanging on to him simply because we bought him. No good ' get rid.
Not sure how true this is, but possibly after Christophe Nkunku from Chelsea instead, who would be a huge upgrade. Wants to come, Chelsea willing to off load. Win win.
Humble Pie Alert - Just watched Amorim's interview on MUTV, words of course, but I have to say I admire the guy's ambition and determination. He has something about him that doesn't come across in the printed media. He sounds like he won't take ****e from anyone, you're either on board or you're out - long overdue. Whether the sentiment stands up to the demands of the PL remains to be seen.
I was about to post something on this. I haven’t watched the interview but I have read the transcripts. It is very clear he’s not starting with excuses, especially for the young players. "We know it will take time and we will try to win time with the games. But we have to start since day one without fear, without thinking that they are not used to playing like this. This is not on my mind. They will start on the first day with our idea, no matter what. That’s the goal." Another point from the interview which I agree with is that age shouldn’t be a factor when a player has been identified as quality. We have seen many young players become the fulcrum of teams even right from their teen years. I am all for that type of approach. Also, the academy seems to have a good crop of players. Amorim should look to get players from there before heading into external transfers in my opinion. Obviously, success or failure will be judged on results. But it never hurts to set the bar of what’s expected very high for what is obviously a talented but underperforming group. At very least, start getting results against the teams outside of the top six. Stop losing games at home regardless of who we are playing, ffs!! If we can do that consistently, it will move us up as a club.
I wonder of he's seen the clips of Rashford in New York last night looking and behaving like the utter ****ing cretin that he is, coming out of a Nicks game? Hope so.
