Transfer Rumours Let's ignore the big ****ing elephant and blame the latest manager, again. Are we nearly there yet?

Does Onana have any Ukrainian heritage?

    Asking for a friend.

No manager is always going to be able to have their so-called preferred 11 on the pitch. Injuries is a natural side of the game. Great managers are much more about what they can do with the players that they can get on the pitch.

Players are not robots that simply play to their god-given talents (if we can it call it that). They need instructions that precisely guide them on how they should play and continuously readapt to meet the ever changing challenges and tactics before them.

This is absolutely just rumour at present, and probably has no substance to it whatsoever, but some web pages saying that Ratcliffe is already recruiting for a new manager next season (which is pro actively good and something that the Glazer regime has never done), with Zidane his preferred option.

Zidane though? Out of work big name manager, sounds a very familiar MO to me.

Is Zinedine Zidane going to make Victor Lindelof a left back when Shaw is out injured? Or cajole Rashford into trying when he plays up front?

Man used to working with absolute top drawer quality players, which we have barely a handful of. Hope he comes with a magic wand.

I don’t think someone like Graham Potter is a bad idea. We shouldn’t judge him too harshly for his time at Chelsea. I think he can actually get some organization out of this team and bring the best out of the young players. He would be a step in the direction, in my opinion.

Ah, but what has he ever won, they will say.

If he can't handle Chelsea, how will handle United, blah, blah , blah......

Unless JR gets rid of the troublemakers and lazy bastards who only play for their pay packets, the likes of Potter won't stand a chance - the likes of Rashford would look at him and ask 'who the **** are you, what have you achieved?'.

So we should bring a "superstar" manager who has achieved all there is to achieve in the game? Isn't that the tried and tested playbook at the club and elsewhere?

As for Rashford, I really don't see how we can claim he would ask a manager what that the manager has achieved. What exactly has he himself achieved in the game?

There's probably 0% chance Potter would even be shortlisted. But we also know that going for superstar manager does not equate to success.

Empty words from Rashford - he needs to do more than have his PR team pump out releases to the sporting press, he needs to demonstrate his loyalty and ability on the pitch. This weekend's game would be a good place to start.

I went 3-1 on the PL board.

No left back, and one centre half of any note fit.
I know Ten Hag is somehow supposed to polish the remaining turds so they play just like those out injured but, sorry, that ain't happening.

Maybe Kambwala will have a stormer alongside Varane? Other miracles have happened I suppose.

Rashford needs to not be centre forward but, even then, without a proper left back doing some of his job he'll be equally as **** on the left.

I'd try McTominay as No.9. Or Amad. What's the worst can happen?!?

I'm genuinely coming round to the view that the scale of the job is beyond anyone at the moment. Until our squad is sorted out I suspect any incoming manager will be faced with the exact same issues as ETH - an initial upturn in form, then the bleaters and moaners start over, the squad becomes demoralised and we tumble down the PL table. There is almost an inevitability to it,

The counter-argument is, of course, that it is the role of a new manager to shape his own squad, but with the number of grifters we have it will take years to run down contracts and form a new squad in a new manger's image. IMO we have no more than 6 current players who should stay, the rest should leave, but won't, so the **** show continues

Absolutely not a ****ing single chance.

    No way.

If he does, I genuinely give up as it will mean the new people in charge are also clueless and don't know what they're doing.

This is what ten Hag is trying to do right now.

I don't see the need to start all over again, yet again. Especially given the 'candidates'.

    • De Zerbi - what has he done that Ten Hag hasn't? Bar play some nice under the radar football at a small club.
    • Frank - ditto.
    • Southgate - lol
    • Potter - has at least progressed upwardly to a big club, then failed. Due to pressure. Which is waaaaaaaay less than he'll face at United.
    • Zidane - big name out of work manager who probably doesn't even want to work here. Sound familiar? Would rather Jose back.

Ten Hag should be supported and allowed to carry on building a squad of fit players and getting rid of some more.

Unless we completely fall off a cliff for the rest of the season of course.

I don’t particularly like the list either. But I don’t think sticking with ETH is the solution. I question his coaching, game preparation, and tactical leadership during games to adjust the players when they are losing shape. These qualities are very fundamental and I’m simply not convinced that ETH has it in him. We’ve struggled to score goals consistently throughout his rein.

With regards to the list, I’d rather go with Potter than De Zerbi! I think Potter would actually be a smart choice as he understands the league and his experience at Chelsea will bold well. He’s essentially done everything that Zerbi has done and more.
