More Ajax-ification of Utd as Brobbey (Ajax spell) is “hijacked” by TenHag.

Ajax Manchester or Manajax?
Who have we signed from Ajax?

Now that De Jong has rejected a move, I hope the day and night spent chasing him had a plan B lined up.

This summer has been a colossal disaster so far. I really hope we can all start agreeing on that. We wasted so much time being “patient” and fkin around over extra fees. Patience is a great weapon, but in football transfer, it does not apply as there is always a chance of someone else making better offer or provide better assurances.

We should just sign Jack Wilshere! He’s available for free in retirement with a broken knee. That should be a fairly easy one to close.

Or maybe we will hear that the deal is back on for De Jong. Either way, we need to stop useless dramas in the transfer market.

The De Jong transfer SHOULD be dead in the water. Barcelona would potentially have to pay Dejong nearly 100 million Euros over the 4 years of his current contract so they are desperate for him to leave. Yet they currently owe him £17m and if they sell him for £65m to Utd they are getting only £48m. Barcelona apparently will only sanction the move if that debt of 17m is reduced to 3m-4m. No wonder the player sees no attraction in moving if that involves such a massive loss for him.

This saga will go on and on. Barcelona are between a rock and a hard place. They can’t afford to keep him (unless the player accepts a massive cut in wages which they’ve said many times) yet they can’t afford to let him go unless he accepts a wipe off of the debt owed to him. Utd (or any other buyer) are the only people who can save Barcelona. If they are desperate enough for the player they will pay off the debt by giving Barcelona €17m in addition to the €65m which is much much more than the player is worth. Does Ten Hag think he’s worth such a huge overpayment? The mere fact that Utd have not yet walked away indicates to me that Utd are trying to placate TenHag in his wish.

Given our predicament of needing to rebuild, we shouldn’t even be playing the game of being an opportunist from others misfortunes. It gets badly convoluted! These Spanish clubs always seem to find a way out of their financial misfortunes. Real has done so several times.

Our execution is openly foolish and it shows definite lack of club strategy. This is so infuriating!

Have to agree with you on this one ! <yikes>

I would let Barcelona fester in their own fvcking sh1t.

I don’t even care for Barca. This one is firmly on us.
I don't agree - the issue remains the outstanding payment to de Jong for deferred wages - that issue didn't arise until Barca tried to shaft the player by accepting our bid - the player, though, said oi - what about my ****ing money.......... the current situation seems to be that he is willing to join us (especially now that this episode has soured relations with the president) but wants the outstanding wages issue sorted first, he doesn't trust Barca to simply give him their word to sort it out post transfer.

Barca still want Lewandowski and Raphinha but need our money to recompense de Jong and finish off those two deals. Catch 22

GF, you’ve just wrote a full Shakespeare there about Barca. Why the heck are we even having to discuss the gory details of Barca’s situation?

It is not great and it’s on us to avoid sht distractions like that.

In a sense I'm glad that our due diligence is thorough enough to throw these problems up before the contracts are signed. If Woody was still in charge I suspect we would have offered them €95m by now

Why is it?

How were United supposed to know the details of de Jong's contract?

Why would they?
I personally don’t care for the contract details and the permutations of endless possibilities. Why are we becoming experts at this? Are we making this into a soap opera to pacify ourselves of how well we are negotiating?

The point is that we should not be fixated on one player and then waste the summer when we have a massive rebuild work to do. It shows the gap in how the club is currently structured. We are a way from showing any semblance of maturity in the transfer market.

In your opinion, maybe a decent/good manager can get a very good tune out of those that are already at the club now most of the toxic ****e has gone.

I actually agree with that idea. I always say that there are enough bones and good meat in the squad to work with. We just never had a decent coaching team to get the best out of them along with the toxic bastards in the team always leaking sht. Rashford, Martial, Bruno, Sancho, even Fred, have all proven that they can be match winners. Oh yeah, there’s also Elanga! But we never had consistency due to lack of methods to our madness. So, well, it all became madness.

If we can get the youth players into the squad, Diallo, Hannibal, Garnacho, Garner, Pellistri are all there. We shouldn’t be looking at getting 20year olds from Ajax. Give those boys a solid chance to uplift the club. Coach them to be disciplined and they will produce the goods to allow the club little more time to strategically restructure our fractured transfer execution.

Yeah, thought we would.

Can't get your actual target, settle for a notch down quality wise.

He's better than McTom though, so in that respect an improvement.
