Nkunku has just signed a contract extension so that's over with.

What's interesting is the buy out clause in the new contract is £51m.

Makes me wonder why we didn't offer that if we were interested in him? Unless we did and he still decided to stay, or we weren't interested in him.
Think that is the thing that causes most arguments on here. We never know who we are interested in and can only go off journo speak (or supposed ITKs)
I tend to just wait and see what happens

I think you can filter out the noise. For example, Timber is a certainty that we were in for him. Darwin is also a certainty that we did try, the walked away. de Jong is obviously a certainty as well. So yes, may be linked to many players, it is still possible to filter through to which ones are closer to the truth than smokes.

Or alternatively we could just announce the signing of a new midfielder and leave Barca with money problems?

EDIT....now might be a good time to point out that Barca are really chasing Raphinha from Leeds but don't have the £60m asking price,
Bargaining works two ways most of the time, never pay first asking price because everyone takes the piss.

Haven’t Barca now completed, or in the throws of completing some asset sell offs, which will release 600 million to clear debt?
If that happens then your claim of a Utd strong negotiation position will be negated.
The supposed Raphinha deal looks like a typical Barca ploy that they used for many years where they chuck loads of fringe players towards what they considered are nothing clubs.

Another week gone in the transfer market and not a pin drop!!

If the club, as claimed, is working day and night to secure players, one has to wonder how many hours other clubs are putting in to secure their interests.

This is pure comedy now. Everyone and their mate down the pub knows the details of our summer transfer business, of course they do. The papers have CR leaving.....no, he's staying but he's told the club to get a move on and sign players or he's off/ no he isn't/yes he is......typical UK press led bollocks. Be patient.

We could learn a few things from our neighbours. They just agreed a deal for Kalvin Phillips for 45m. Done quietly and promptly without fuss and drama.

It's hardly the same is it?

No competition whatsoever for him.

City (current league champions by the way) dangle the old 'you'll win plenty of medals but, just as an aside, we can piss easy pay you £150k + a week no problem' carrot, fancy signing up?

Plus, we're not United, who you're supposed to hate, right?

Here's the dotted line.

Turned Talk Sport on going to work yesterday morning and Alan Brazil was quoting The Daily Mail gossip like it was fact.

That's all anyone needs to know.

You can swap Daily Mail for any tabloid hack by the way, doesn't matter. They'll print what they want knowing fine well they aren't accountable that most of it is absolute bollocks.

It's throwing darts at a board with names on, blindfolded.

Regardless of what you all think of the gossip columns, the fact remains… we have no one signed to date while we have got rid of so many players! Rivals have also signed players that we were interested in. Those are the facts!

Gentlemen, this is what a shtshow strategy of execution looks!

I absolutely object to that.

There's no 'gentlemen' here!

This was entirely predictable. It’s been like this for the last ten years. In Utd’s predicament i.e the evident need for several players the common sense strategy would have been to sort out their signings quickly to exactly avoid the inevitable soap opera from the tabloids. Yet this is exactly what Arnold has been doing. The way it’s going Arnold is looking no better than Woodward. Naivety at its worst.

If you Google Frenkie De Jong, you'll find four or five different versions of what is supposed the be 'the story'.

Anyone hanging their hat on gossip columns is an ****ing idiot to be absolutely honest.

Evening Sucky.
