Anyone sense some sour grapes towards a certain money grabbing England player?

He wasn't ****, mind he was nowhere near Phillips. Not on the same planet as a footballer.

SKP's scoring rate dipped because the rest of the team was carp cuteybuns, not because the prem defenders had sussed him, he still put them away when he got the chances. From the modern era strikers he wins hands down, but what about the legendary Brian Clough!!

At the end of that season we STRENGTHENED the team no end by signing Don Hutchinson and, a bit later, Gavin McCann. In the second season, if I remember, Kevin wandered out on the wing a fair bit to avoid the two defenders the opposition always had on him then. I'm not saying Kevin couldn't put the chances away - he's still doing it! - but he got less chances the second season. I wasn't saying anything bad about Phillips. But there's a tendency on these boards right now to deny just how good Bent was. They tend to make jokes about 3 yard tap-ins - but if 24 three yard tap-ins is so easy, how come no one else does it? Bent's positional play was brilliant. He was always in the right spot at the right time. Who knows, if he'd stayed ...

Can't argue with that CB and I'm not knocking Bent either but this season, he had a lot of chances that he fired wide, over the bar or into the side netting, when they would have been in the back of the net last season, so what was wrong, I think he was unsettled all season. If I remember right, Hutchinson only stayed half a season then went back to West ham?

Gotta be SKP but hope Gyan becomes a Legend (Bent although he was a good player for us wasn't with us long enough and the way he left just can't be forgiven)
