Guaranteed to be the Swans' top scorer, since he will be quite invisible, and very difficult to mark.
He will ghost into opposition penalty areas, scoring at will.
How can any team defend against a player they cannot see ?

Horrible transfers. Lose the best keeper in the division and get a 34 year old striker to be our number 1. The squads depth seems poor. Long, long season ahead.

Who can possibly think signing this guy for 2 seasons is a good idea!

In his last 2 seasons in the league = 44 games - 3 goals
In his last 2 seasons in the FA Cup = 7 starts - 0 goals
In his last 2 season in the league Cup = 5 starts - 0 goals.

This is the best guy that CCFC can find?

He hasn't been happy for a while though which can definitely affect form, just look at ALF. Hopefully being back with Trolls and Lennie will give him the chuffers he needs to score some bleeding goals <laugh>

I admit I ask this without really knowing or having the inclination to bother to find out.

How many of those appearances were starts and how many were brief sub appearances? I do know he was never close a first team starter at Liverpool and was normally wheeled out for a few minutes to see out time/rest others.

I understand why lots of fans aren't inspired by a 34 year old who's been in hibernation for 2 years. On the plus side he's hasn't had to put his 30 year+ body through 2 seasons playing 40+ high intensity games like he would have if he'd been first team. He was a better a player than Lafferty has ever been, can he still play to that level? We'll soon find out <ok>

The deal sweetener for Tan when deciding to bring a 34 year old striker to Cardiff was that West Brom threw in the zimmer frames that he had recently started to use. <laugh>

I'd take a 34 year old striker over a 19 year old director of football <laugh>

Cardiff City add Brian Murphy to goalkeeping ranks...

Cardiff City Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Brian Murphy, subject to international clearance.

33-year old Murphy, previously with Manchester City, Ipswich Town, Queens Park Rangers and Portsmouth among others, has signed a two-year deal at Cardiff City Stadium, joining the Club on a free transfer.

Upon his arrival, we spoke to Murphy along with fellow new boy Ben Amos and young 'keeper Ben Wilson - who has signed a contract extension at CCS

I forecast we would end up with an out of contract keeper. One who has played just 55 games in 13 years!

Let's hope he doesn't make it 56 for us.

Not convinced over Amos either given his display down here last season for Bolton.

Still rankles that City sold their best keeper for peanuts rather than try and sell say Gunnarrsson or Manga where there is plenty of cover.

To be honest about it, looks like Marshall was the only one anybody really wanted to pay for.

I don't think you can "try to sell" someone in this game unless you virtually give them away. Players existing contract wages are often the problem - look at the 3 amigos Macheda, Le Fondre and Dikgacoi for evidence of that.

I agree about Murphy. Another acquisition for the sake of it. We do not have a true Championship quality keeper at the club and without Marshall between the sticks we'll leak goals that he would have kept out.

The problem we had was the need to sell some one for a decent fee to cover the pay-offs needed to get rid of the 3 Amigos. Plenty of talk about interest in Manga and Gunner but no one came forward with a firm offer. You can only sell if someone wants to buy. We couldn't even give Kiko and Digkacoi away.

We needed to sign a keeper just to have 3 on our books. I hope we don't see Murphy.

I'd like us to stick with Wilson. We need to give someone the chance to grow into the role who is young enough to do so. i know we'd like a proven keeper between the sticks but we can only play the hand we've been dealt. Amos has been on the bench whilst a division below us, Murphy was released by a team two divisions below us.
