Lens

But you're claiming the players are given a boost just by having a name behind them. We only pick up good players mate, we don't take in **** then peddle it out for millions of pounds just 'cos they're United graduates.

Usually it's the other way round, we sold Michael Keane to Burnley for £2m and they value him at £20m now. Evans to WBA for £5m and they quoted Arsenal £25m. Drinkwater went for peanuts, £25m now. Heaton, peanuts, Pogba peanuts... the list goes on. If anything we're not charging enough!
TEL...are you seriously expecting anyone on here to believe that your team will sell on a player and not have a sell on clause inserted. But, whatever, we may agree to disagree, but I maintain, United do a great job with developing and selling on young players.

I wonder how much money we got from a sell on clause from Pogba, were we due 20% of the fee do you think? That'd be alright, here's £100m and give us £20m back. <laugh>

I'm sure we put the clauses in some of their contracts mate, but not all, we're not responsible for how they develop after leaving us, we just equip them with the mentality to succeed, The Busby Way and see them on their way.

McNair will have it ingrained in him, as will Love, only time will tell if they turn out to be two more names to put on a list of success stories.

Im getting confused here.

These lads went through Utd academy and made it up to the first team of one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Now deemed as rejects as some of the most highly rated players around force them out.

Confused.

Chelsea don't produce young players and sell on anywhere near what Man Utd do.... absolute fact.

So..rather than pick Rochdale, why not chose say....Sunderland or Middlesbrough who have state of the art academies, have the pick of the best talent in our region. Of course clubs like Stoke, Palace, Reading will sniff around youngsters from Rochdale..but why not Sunderland or Boro.......Simply because to get someone from Man Utd has much more credibility. Always has had and always will have. I am certainly not jealous of Man Utd and to say I have not thought this through is somewhat condescending, its my opinion, your analogy of using Rochdale tells me you have not thought through this debate. As I have said to TEL....I am praising MUFC for making this such a lucrative conveyor belt of talent they make so much money from.

Chelsea had 28 players out on loan last season with an estimated market value in excess of 150m and most of them were under the age of 23.

Sunderland and Boro can take players from anywhere in the world, They're category 1. If you're going to debate it you'd stand yourself in better stead if you learn the rules regarding Academies. Doesn't mean we have the right player coming through for the area we need to strengthen. You do realise if it wasn't for picking up Asoro(who's from Sweden not Ashington) and fast tracking him, our very promising academy have no strikers anywhere near ready. Just because an academy has category 1 status doesn't mean they have potential in every position. So should the quest to find youth suddenly stop there? Of course not that would be stupid. Should the club they play for be a factor in our quest to find such a player? No, that would be even more stupid. Guess what? We had no DM coming though our Academy. So we went out and signed a young prospect with PL experience. That is not a bad thing on any level.

Don't know what you're issue is. Man U have invested time and money in building a very good academy that produces a large quantity of professional footballers. Anyone slating it can only be jealous. Me? I'm envious, but that's subsiding as our own improves.

I don't deem them rejects.

It's a good idea to bring in some young players to develop and sell on to make Sunderland a club that turns profit instead of losses, after forking out for players with no resale value.

Some folk are identifying scapegoats after 3 games. They'll be reading all the crap on Twitter, let's just hope you've bought two lads with balls of steel.

I only question Love because we've got a young RB coming through. They've both got my full support. I trust Moyes more than these bizarre theories going about this thread.

We have about 6 RB's coming through, well, 4 since you took Love and Verela has left, but still, we play Valencia as RB and we have Darmian on the books, he cost about £12m.

Competition is always good.

Feeling he may have been on a large wage and he's been shifted to finance new additions.

That's the only logic I can see in it.

Then we're in an even bigger mess than we thought, or, there's a few players on silly money because a squad this small shouldn't be having wage problems.

Another Gyan/Giack for me, saw him at the world cup and said he was a world beater. Came here and disappointed having high expectations upon him.
