Sorry Mindy you are right I misquoted Neil Lennon he doesn't say "they didn't deserve it", he says, "congratulations to Kilmarnock I wouldn't say they deserved it..." It was in an interview after the game with the BBC. I posted the interview on the thread entitled "dignity" that you began on the Rangers forum around ten days ago if you want to watch it.
Even in the second half, I thought we had sustained pressure before they scored. You just have to congratulate Kilmarnock, I suppose. They are the winners and well done to them." Disgraceful I couldn't find the quote you posted, do you have a link? Here is mine for continuity http://www.heraldscotland.com/mobile/sport/football/criminal-decision-cost-us-the-treble-says-lennon-after-stokes-claim.17070740?_=39c160cc462c6d690e3433feaf038a23966c241b
Is the "disgraceful" because of what I posted? I love the mock indignation. To be honest Mindy I couldn't give two hoots about your manager he actually reminds me of one our former players, Paul Gascoigne, who to be honest I couldn't stand. They both pander to the lowest common denominator and have an infinite capacity for self-destruction. I was merely commenting on the usage of a middle-aged man on a social networking site on one of the threads on the Rangers board made up by a Rangers fan. The rest seem to be made up by yourself and ST Here is a link to the you tube clip of the interview after the game. As I said it's on the thread you created called "dignity" The clip is the fourth comment on your thread. I did not read the interview in Herald at the time. I had watched the interview on television, and to be honest he wasn't as angry as I'd seen him, but I did think he came over as a little classless and a bit disrespectful to Killie. That's my opinion for what it's worth. I hope the link works and have a pleasant rest of the evening. http://http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/135734-Dignity Edit: I don't know if that link to your thread works so I looked for the interview for you. He says it at about two minutes ten seconds into it or thereabouts. Cheers
Watched it He is quite analytical during this interview and his quote on "won't say they deserve it" follows a review of chances created On chances created during the match you could argue Celtic deserved to go through....but if your auntie was your uncle and all that Considering he felt he was done out of a penalty it seems to be a very calm and respectful interview
a lot being made of this - so let me sum up because i am clever... 1. lennon was ott - yes the penalty was soft, yes we COULD have had one....but he didnt need to react like that - its too far and he should apologise 2. managers and footballers should not use twitter - context is a nightmare - tbh i thought lennon was relatively decent in his comments to celtic fans acknowledging their right to their opinion - what he should not do is reply to rangers fans - it just comes across as childish 3. i have met him a couple of times outside football and he was an absoloute gentleman 4. there needs to be daylight for an offside decision! 5. the point about other spl managers doing similar things is entirely correct - smith was at times as bad (certainly early days - see chic young interview), mclean a million times worse! when it is lennon it is blown out of proportion - that is absolute fact - the cameras have "lennon watch" on live games thses days - who else has that? SAF, mourinho perhaps.... 6. finally, he is far from disrespectful to other teams - i have lost count of the times he has praised SPL teams and he regularly talks up our game
1 - Stating you are clever does not make it necessarily true. 2 - Lennon should have ****ed off up the tunnel straight to the dressing room after shaking Sergio's hand. 3 - My wife has met him in a bar and he was an obnoxious ****e and wouldn't leave her or her pal alone until me and my mate arrived. 4 - There was daylight. It was a sunny ****ing afternoon. 5 - If it was a one off with Lennon then it would be out of proportion. It's a common them running from last season. He looked as if he was a bit calmer earlier this season. Passion is fine, aggression is not. 6 -He should talk up the game. He's the manager of the league champions. He only praises teams that he beats and when he loses it's always about injustice and never about the other team performing better. His defeats are always clouded in controversy brought up by his behaviour. He's good at spin and plenty of the dumb animals lap it up.
1 - Stating you are clever does not make it necessarily true. when its me it does - because i am honest. honest and clever 2 - Lennon should have ****ed off up the tunnel straight to the dressing room after shaking Sergio's hand. agreed - he was out of line 3 - My wife has met him in a bar and he was an obnoxious ****e and wouldn't leave her or her pal alone until me and my mate arrived. - my wife and i have met him twice and he was extremely pleasant, well spoken and sober. i cant comment on your experiences 4 - There was daylight. It was a sunny ****ing afternoon. between the defender and the attacker 5 - If it was a one off with Lennon then it would be out of proportion. It's a common them running from last season. He looked as if he was a bit calmer earlier this season. Passion is fine, aggression is not. no one is saying he was in the right - and he needs to look at himself - it is still way over the top however 6 -He should talk up the game. He's the manager of the league champions. He only praises teams that he beats and when he loses it's always about injustice and never about the other team performing better. His defeats are always clouded in controversy brought up by his behaviour. He's good at spin and plenty of the dumb animals lap it up. thats not true and i resent the implication. earlier this season when we were defeated he acknowledged that both the competition were better and celtic were poor. before games he talks about how difficult it will be, that the opposition are a good side and has been particularly fulsome in his praise of utd - despite houston being singularly unpleasant. you cant have the bad without admitting the good BA
1 - honest, clever and clearly humble. 2 - you were with your wife at the time. He asked if my wife would like a drink. She said no thanks and he started talking at her. He asked if she knew who he was. She said she knew what he was. He took offence and thought she was being slightly sectarian. She wasn't - explaining to him she was a tim but he was a drunk sleazy old man and that he was acting a bit rapey. I thought it was amusing. footballer tries it on with burd shocker. Burd puts him in his place. 3- so hooper was onside? 4 - TEll me a manager that talks down opposition before the game? It's an unwritten rule that you talk up the opposition to make sure your players aren't complacement and you don't give the opposition quotes to pin on the dressing room wall. Earlier in the season he seemed to have turned a corner and seemed more in control of his temper. Fast forward to the last few weeks - three big games, three defeats and three outbursts at Ibrox and Hampden. He needs to take a lesson in dealing with people from Martin O'Neil. He was passionate, he spoke his mind, he was respected (even a grudging respect from Rangers fans).
3 big games in which defeat, he feels, was assured by the incorrect decision of an official If you watch his Kilmarnock interview he is reasonably calm considering the incident At ibrox he is sent off and he feels he has done nothing to merit it, this has still to be resolved and by some accounts he could be set to show up the SFA again at his disciplinary hearing Against Hearts it was not a penalty, Beattie confirmed as much....so what do you do....confront ref away from witnesses and have more stories made up about you (allegedly) or infront of many witnesses And let's remember it was at least 8 minutes after the incident and it wasn't just Lennon, hardly a hot headed action
The offside rule states that if a player has a part of his body, that he can legally score a goal with, closer to the opponents goal line than the 2nd last defender when the ball is played then he is offside. Going by that, Hooper was clearly offside. No need for sunlight between the attacker and the defender It should have been 1-0 to Hearts before they got their penalty.
And before Hearts went one up ,Ian Black should have been sent off TWICE , show his challenge on Ledley , plus our two ordering offs at Ibrox . To a 100 neutral referees ( non scots ) and ask them which was the most obvious sending off 95% would go for Black's challenge . Then 2 minutes later he clearly handles the ball .
It's ok to go by the letter of law ( rangers fans comments after recent Ibrox game ) when it's against Celtic , yet in a semi final it's ok for the referee to turn a blind eye to a clear sending off .
I am to old for twitter ,actually I am mourning just now , I've just read Ceefax offically died today , All those happy memories of putting on 302 to find the football news , 304 to find out latest scores, The days before , I phones , computers and I pad , how life has changed !!!!
I'm too old for it as well mate. I didn't know about Ceefax either. Like yourself I remember the 302 and 304 pages fondly. Aye Harry these were the days. Ceefax RIP.
I remember the letters page It was like retro 606 5 pages of sneaky abuse and only one post per punter Still prefer ceefax to BBC sport website for score updates
I've not seen the challenges from Ian Black, but would agree completely that he's a right dirty bastard and has no place in modern football. However, I did see the picture Ledley posted of his cuts. I honestly get worse than that most Sundays and I consider it as part of the game. Doesn't help that I throw myself into challenges like a nut.
