LUST have changed their stance on this in the letter dated 23/02/2012

"We put the question of whether L.U.S.T. should continue to support the Southampton protest to our members, whose opinion guides the direction of the Trust. Of more than 600 responses we received by email, over 80% declared that the protest should not go ahead."

"The comments we received made our members feelings clear. We feel that March 3rd would be a day better spent giving our full, vociferous backing to you and the players, to give you a taste of what it is like to have Leeds United fans on your side. One of the aims of the Trust is to see Leeds - the club, the fans, the players, the city - united behind a successful football team. We are enthusiastic about the prospect of your management helping to bring that about, and are keen to give you all the help we can. Neil, we hope you will understand that our decision not to support the protest is a gesture of the fans’ faith in your ability, and a demonstration of the support you can look forward to receiving as manager of Leeds United. "

<ok> As long as we don't get short memories....

the rose is the symbol of the city

Ah yes, just looked it up.

THE ORIGINS OF SOUTHAMPTON`S ARMORIAL BEARINGS

The first surviving official record of the Town`s Arms is a grant on 4th August, 1575 by the herald, Clarenceux King of Arms, of a Crest, and Supporters to the Arms. In this grant the Arms themselves were described as "anicient armes". No one knows, therefore, when the three rose on their contracting backgrounds were first granted or adopted, although the simplicity of the design points to a fairly early date - the thirteenth or fourteenth century. The general opinion is that the most likely period for their adoption is the second half of the fourteenth century, a period when many military expeditions of the Hundred Years War sailed wholly or in part from Southampton and the Solent, including those led by Henry, Duke of Lancaster and his son-in-law John of Gaunt, also Duke of Lancaster. John`s younger brother, the Duke of York, also had similar connections with the Port, and it seems to be a reasonable guess that the red and white rose badges of the Dukes of Lancaster and York should have been used as a compliment to those important royal princes. However, it must be stressed that this is only a guess, no proof of it survives.

Curious that the one white rose was chosen when there are two red ones alongside it in the city's crest. Knew us Yorkshire types had some admirers down south. ;)

:D Was this for his abuse of the Norwich fans the other day? I saw them getting pretty irritated at him.

Also...

^^ OH MY GOD, IT'S THE WHITE ROSE OF YORKSHIRE! ^^

What's that doing there, Saints fans?!
I have received a few emails from not606ers from other clubs about his conduct. His days are numbered. White rose <ok> WE ALL LOVE LEEDS

whats the chance of your lot signing mills then or is that just a rumour?

with the form both teams are in at the moment, i would like a southampton win but obviously a draw away from home isn't a disaster.

probably be a tight game, 2-1 southampton for me.

probably be a tight game, especially for leeds as they won't want to give an early goal away like in the reverse fixture so i'll go for a 2-1 to either team.

The early goal depends if O'Brien starts! Especially after last time.

We might make it a little tougher this time, NW seemed to have the side more organised defensively against your local rivals.

Still can't see us winning though!

I'm paying £36 for my adult ticket.

There was a thread a week or so ago about the ticket prices when they were released. I'm going to the game with a friend from Leeds and making a weekend of it. Otherwise that price and it being a TV game would have put me off completely.

How much do home fans have to pay for an adult ticket?

Not surprised there is protests against Leeds if there fans have to pay the highest gate prices but see close to the lowest squad investment.

As for the game, Warnock has had a good length of with the players now and a team with a new manager are always dangerous and at home to the league leaders is another reason to up the game.
Saints lost both Lallana & Lambert to injury against Watford and if one or both have not recovered in time then that seriously dents Saints chances who have an average record away from home.

Very tricky game for both sides, a result that could go either way... I've not been confident with our away form this season but Watford may give us some confidence.

Leeds fans - any chance you'll be nice and start Webber and Paynter?

How about Rachubka in goal just to make sure?

Paynter's on fire...............................................................All it took was a jiffy can full of petrol, and a lighter
