"We've got sprit; we kept going, we got the ball in the box, and the lad has caught Mika high inside the box. Snod stepped up, kept his composure and we were delighted to see it hit the back of the net.

But we got a point out of the game and that point could be very, very vital come the end of the season.

We know we have to do better than that. We went from back to front too easy, we're too predictable and that isn't us. We know we can pass it a lot better, and we didn't do it well enough.

Sometimes you don't play as well and you'd like, but we still came away with a point."

"We've got pace in the side, and such a good group.

They are giving us everything, as always it's all about the group, people like Simon Church coming off the bench to score two goals on his birthday.

It was a fantastic result, especially against West Ham, they have a great manager, there were 24,000 here, I'm delighted.

We go to Leeds next which is another fantastic game, I remember going there last season, their fans get right behind them and we drew 0-0, it's a place you want to go and play, Leeds and West Ham are the type of games games you want to play in."

ROYALS FACTFILE:

  • Last season: Finished 5th, losing out 4-2 to Swansea in the play-off final.
  • Top scorers this season: Adam Le Fondre and Simon Church, both of whom have scored five.
  • Top assistants: Jimmy Kebe, Jobi McAnuff and Ian Harte - all of them have set up four goals.
  • League position: 11th with 30 points from 21 games.
  • Form: LWWLW. Their last match was an eye-catching 3-0 win at the Boleyn Ground.
  • History: Drew 0-0 with us at Elland Road last season on a televized Friday night game with current Leeds loanee Alex McCarthy earning Man of the Match. Only ever faced each other nine times, and Leeds maintain a strong record: our only loss was in a League Cup match in 97/98.

Lovely thread 18, seems like you have taken a few tips from AK from last week.

I reckon we should bring Vayrynen into the starting line-up. Although i didnt see the watford game, it seems Sam didn't reproduce what happened against Millwall, I also think for that left side to work effectively, Pugh needs to be there playing either LB or LM. Obviously McCarthy cannot play agaisnt his former club so Lonergan will be back playing (which is a really welcome sign) and will probably keep that No. 1 spot from here on in as well. Not only this i reckon we should bring McCormack back into frame, he adds some creativity and lets be fair Becchio is not producing as much, you can take your pick from Becchio or Keogh to partner him but i prefer keogh's link up play so i would play him

My team:

---------------Lonergan---------------

Connolly------Lees------Kissa-----White

Snoddy-----Vayrynen--Clayton----Pugh

---------McCormack-----Keogh---------

Bench: Cairns, Bromby, Brown, Sam, Becchio

I predict us to bounce back even though reading got a good result against West Ham and will be booming with confidence. A 2-0 win for leeds with Snoddy and McCormack to score

Morning all. Apart from Lonergan in goal & the usual suspects as back 4, not sure who else SG will pick. I'm still hoping we revert to 4231 in the 1st half with Brown or Varynen as the HM & Nunez sitting behind Becchio & then 442 in the 2nd by which time, I hope we've got the game sewn up. Bad weather up north, pre-Christmas slump, & Reading bring the N85 bus to park in front of their goal, I see this as a 1-1 draw.

Fantastic looking thread <ok>

----------------Lonnergan------------------
Connelly--------Lees--------Kissa--------White
-------------------Brown--------------------
Snodgrass------------Clayton------------Pugh
------------McCormack-------------Becchio

I'd play 4-2-3-1 with McCormack behind Becchio and White on the left wing, with Pugh at left back and Vayrynen at CM.

Spot on Simon. Difficult to predict our games, depends which Leeds United turns up on the day, the lethargic, seemingly disinterested one or the dynamic, up & at them Leeds, carving through the opposition at will & creating chances.
If it's the former, I'll go 1-1, hopefully it'll be the latter & 3-1 Leeds win.
Great match thread btw

McCarthy's ineligible for this due to a clause in the loan agreement, so Lonergan will start.

Hopefully we'll be seeing:

Becchio

Sam - McCormack - Snodgrass

Pugh - Clayton

White - Kisnorbo - Lees - Connolly

Lonergan

I'll predict a 2-2 draw for this. Both teams are inconsistent and the Watford performance leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

I took what he did and made it a million times better. :bandit:

By the way, Brian McDermott sounded genuinely fond of Grayson and Leeds in his Radio Berkshire interview, and said it would be unfair on McCarthy to pump him for information about us. Are Reading the most inoffensive team in the league? Normally there's a bit of a buzz about who we're playing but there's practically nothing to anticipate about this game at all <laugh>

There's absolutely no reason to dislike Reading, or like them for that matter.

Kisnorbo is the weak link in defence,he is past his sell-by date in Div2

He's been part of the defence that kept three clean sheets in five before last Saturday. Done well, those two slip-ups against Watford aside. Obviously he's average and I hope we sign another player there, but not 'the weak link'.

FFS 20 minutes played and not a shot on or off target. Two games with clean sheets and wins and then a lucky point against Watford when we never showed up and today it sounds like we haven't turned up either. Grayson needs to get this sorted quickly....
