Harwood then.. You're as usual missing the point and avoiding accepting the situation.

Everyone from here to Timbuktu knows Newcastle are without a striker...

Harewood scored 5 in 9 games, he was decent.

Osula starts as striker cos despite the fact he's not got significant figures yet, he's obviously more of a striker than Gordon. Plus Elanga, Osula and Barnes as front 3 isn't too shabby.

We don't know about the midfield injuries or if they even are injured at all yet.

Charles one thing I've learned is to not be derailed by you.

We haven't got a sufficient striker.. Deep down you know.

Hopefully we get some fwds this week.

We obviously need another striker, but you're harsh on Osula by not calling him and proper striker, especially after he came on and scored immediately and nearly got us an amazing point. Plus I think Leeds would be a great game for Osula to start and a good opportunity for him.

Midfield is more of a concern right now if Joe and Tonali are both out for this game.

He's a prospect.. We're I the Premier league and are like I say without a proper striker.

I don't know why you want to argue against that because you definitely know it's right.

We can list positives all we want and we can also list negatives, but sometimes it's easier to just accept and agree.

Think the word you’re looking for is ‘proven’ not proper.

Substitute proper for experienced. Osula is a “proper” striker but still fairly young and inexperienced. Obviously you only get experience by playing but yes we do need one preferably two experienced strikers

.

Honestly no he isn't, the guy is 22, and plays regularly. Mainly as a sub last season, but that's cos Isak was starting.

Sean Neave is a prospect cos he's just turned 18. Osula is only a couple of years younger than Isak, he isn't a youth prospect. Osula is fine to start against Leeds and I think he'll do well against them, cos he can play well, and isn't just an inexperienced youth we're gambling with.

We'll sign another striker or (however unlikely) keep Isak, but this is the Leeds match day thread, and I'm fine with Osula playing this game.

Anyway this game is huge for the season... Win and it's not too bad a start, but another loss and it's already going to be getting very difficult with bad circumstances around the players.

Forward or striker? Mental gymnastics

Like Gordon is a fwd.. I don't see Osula as striker and he looks better on the right.. That's my view and I don't think Osula will be our striker now or in the future.

This is why the club is trying to buy a striker surely.

Gordon is a winger.
Think we’re trying to sign a proven striker rather than going all in with a still unproven one.
Whether or not Osula makes it at this level doesn’t alter his position although as we’ve seen he is also good as a winger.

I don't think wingers really exist anymore.. There's literally fwds and strikers.. I can't think of many sides that play what you would call a winger anymore.

I agree on osula, he's got potential, but Newcastle are in the Champions league and the Premier league, so we definitely needs better fwds /strikers that get goals.

Gordon is beginning to have a big question mark over him there...

..

Literally every team plays with wingers, wingers get goals, but aren't expected to get the same figures as strikers generally.

Ie Murphy and Barnes define wingers in the same way that Ginola and Robert did. Gordon has a higher goal return, but his goals come from cutting in from the wing, and he isn't a target man.
