Too easy to blame RD, on paper our side is decent, with the side out today we should be beating teams like Rochdale.Glad the owner is running away with it. How long until Bowyer realises that no manager can succeed under Roland?
He's questioning the players' attitude in the post-match, but When you are getting players from a higher level this can happen. Better with players who feel lucky to be at Charlton than ones who feel we are lucky to have them. But borrowing is the preferred option for Roland. And so we'll continue to lose to teams whose players are individually not so good as ours.
I’ve said from Day 1 under Duchatelet that our fixation with signing loans is a key factor in our decline. Bielik was substituted at half time today & Bowyer said after he was taking too many touches on the ball ! It’s all very inconsistent & chaotic at the moment. Personally I think it doesn’t help the players knowing that Ward & possibly Cullen are going back in January ...how can you build a team around that ?

Bowyer needs to work out why we are struggling and fast otherwise another wasted season

It's been chaotic since January 2014, but I get what you are saying.I’ve said from Day 1 under Duchatelet that our fixation with signing loans is a key factor in our decline. You obviously don’t understand my postand completely missed my point
Turn it in big bum, Dushitelet is the root of ALL the poo at our club.
Dushitelet sells and still having a stranglehold of The Valley will still see you defending him![]()

I take your point that an individual defeat like today goes to the players and manager. But there is an ongoing malaise at the Valley and that stems from the Belgian. Maybe our players just aren't as good as we think.Too easy to blame RD, on paper our side is decent, with the side out today we should be beating teams like Rochdale.

I agree but it’s just so lazy to go it’s all RD’s fault we almost excuse the manager and the players.I take your point that an individual defeat like today goes to the players and manager. It doesn't matter how good the players are if they don't have the will to win. Under a succession of managers we get turned over, And will continue to be turned over, by teams with more spirit, even if their players are not so good individually. Been happening for four years right in front of our eyes. And it's horrible, bloody horrible.
Bowyer will be Duchatelet’s 9th manager in just under 5 year. It is stretching credulity to believe that all 9 were so useless that individually they couldn’t bring any success to Charlton.
Of course it is.
The appointment of useless, clueless head coaches and panic buying of equally poor players led to our relegation and spiraling losses.
Since then, the managers appointed have been marginally better (at least the first two had EFL experience) but now with cost cutting and no long term investment, our best possibility for promotion is being undermined by the Club's owner.
Two free transfers and four loanees (including a known crock and a bloke who is over the hill) is nowhere near enough to secure promotion from this league when half a dozen other Clubs of a similar size to Charlton have seriously strengthened their squads.
But let's just blame Lee Bowyer. And when he has been sacked who is next for the hot seat. Johnnie Jackson?
We can never have success when the manager and the owner are pulling in opposite directions.
I would make 3 criticisms of Bowyer this season, aside from never seeming to be able to pick the same 11 in consecutive matches.
1. He should have prioritised spending his meagre resources on cover at left back, given Page’s dire career fitness record. We all predicted what would happen, and it has. Being forced to play Solly, Djiksteel or even Sarr in that position has totally messed up the balance of the side.
2. Goalkeeper - having started the season with Dillon Phillips, he should have stuck with him for longer than 4/5 games. The whole episode smacked of Villa dictating to us - not a good look. Everyone could see that Ben Amos was a better keeper than Dillon ...equally everyone can see that Jed Steer is nothing special.
3. Publicly stating that Jamie Ward would definitely be going back to Forest in January, and that it was very possible Josh Cullen could also be returning to West Ham. Some times a manager has to be more circumspect with his public comments. I can’t imagine knowing two of our key (loan) players are going has done much for team morale.
