Most of us would hope our teenage kids couldn't be groomed like those poor teenagers in Rotherham, or be persuaded to keep quiet about being abused by priests or football coaches, or remain in abusive relationships or be pressured into being in a gang or carrying weapons....but some youngsters at points are vulnerable and do these things. I do not pretend to understand why and suspect their is not one simple answer but just cos we do not understand it, it does not mean it is not possible.
I do not like what she has done, or what she is currently and do not feel sympathy for her as a 19 year old...but she was probably not groomed/persuaded to do as she did in a short time she was probably targeted for a year or two....and (maybe it makes me a liberal fo gooder to some) but I do feel for any child coerced into making such a terrible decision.
In my view she should be made to face justice. True justice. This will be seen as fair and not make her a martyre.
At some point Britain and the West need to learn lessons.
Denying true justice in Ireland with internment and show trials of people like the Birmingham 6 is acknowledged as being the biggest recruitment tool of the IRA. The same is true of the possibly illegal wars in Afghanistan and Iraq in relation to IS terrorists.
I do not know anyone who wants her set free but some of what I have heard and read worries me TBH.
For the most part the debate on here has been civil but elsewhere it resembles that politics thread
