Its been clear for some time Wenger has lost the dressing room. This club is heading backwards at a rate of knots,in fact if something doesn't change soon I will go as far as to say it's f====d
I don't think he's lost the dressing room but more he doesn't know how. He hasn't got the right balance, an effective strategy or a way to motivate the players. It's not all the managers fault as the players should take responsibility, but the buck stops with him. If he hasn't got the right players to carry out his strategy, then get them.
If Wenger says he is leaving this summer, EL win or not, and the players start fronting up and win the EL, that would be a disgusting display of professionalism by the squad.
Silver lining... 15th March if/when Milan knock us out, then hopefully and surely Wenger must be gone. Maybe not much longer left of the twat who's damaged us so much
I can empathise with you guys. Do you need a massive player overhaul, or a change of management to alter the mindset of the players. If Ferguson had been in charge of that team, I am sure that Arsenal would not have keeled over so easily. If I was an Arsenal, I would want the board to go all out to get Simeone and give him the funds to get players in, and move on the deadwood. Moving on to your players, there are a number of your players not up to the standard of a team to compete for the top 4, Ramsey, Wilshere, Iwobi, Welbeck, Mustafi to name but a few.
That was a hugely disappointing game from a neutral point of view. Seeing Arsenal perform in a Cup Final like a team from the bottom third of the Premier League is not good for English football. Wenger Out.
If it isn't AC Milan someone else will knock us out. Not trying to be negative but our midfield isn't working at the highest level, something they'll need to do to win the Europa. It's almost certain that Wenger ends up with nothing this season. The only way i can see him staying is if he's stubborn and stays and the management don't want to sack him because of the payout.
I do not have any, ANY confidence that Wenger will leave. It doesn’t matter what happens, he will never break a contract. He needs to be sacked, but the board will never do that either. Our only hope is during a contract expiration year.
If we finish 19th in the league and Milan knock us out of Europa. Wenger will only go if he chooses to. He's not getting fired.
I didn't think we were going to win the game anyway, as City are a far superior outfit to us. However, what I did expect was to show more belief and desire to win than we did today. I've never seen such a cowardly performance in a Cup final in all my life. All I wanted from us was to give them a good run for their money. And we couldn't even do that. As for the Europa League. Even if we miraculously stumble past Milan in the L16 of the Europa, does anyone genuinely feel like we have a solid chance of winning it? That's Wenger's only saving grace for this season, and even that is looking ominous for us now. The players are playing as if they can't wait for the season to end already. Ultimately, Wenger's position at Arsenal is untenable. He simply cannot stay beyond the end of this season. If the club don't get rid of him after the last game of this season, I genuinely fear for how many years we will be set back.
I always wish we had bought Vincent Kompany. Was linked to him regularly before he ever joined City. He's been such a great defender over the years. Physical, commanding, intimidating and good on the ball.(exactly the kind of player we should have next to Koscielny) One of the all time greats IMO.
I kept thinking the entire game about when we rolled Villa over in the FA cup a few years back. We are the new Villa.
We just look clueless and rudderless at the moment. Zero confidence and no idea about how to turn it around. Wenger needs to go, even if it means we can't get the man we want straight away, because at the moment we are completely stagnant.
I just find it difficult to wrap my head around the players performing like that in a frikkin' Cup Final. What was the point of getting to this stage of the competition to perform so poorly at the end of it?
No manager is unsackable. If the atmosphere becomes so bad every single game at the Emirates then he simply can't stay employed. The fans could do this if they all worked together.
Our fans don't seem to be angry enough to actually mobilise enough support to do this, though. You listen to what most fans are saying in the aftermath of this and a lot of them have just accepted this as normality. They are so disenfranchised and disconnected that they cannot muster the energy to do something as radical as this. Wenger has sapped all the enthusiasm from the fans and, after years of not having their voices heard/witnessing the same rookie errors every season, they have reached a point where there is no emotion left. It's just pure apathy.
We just didn't turn up. No passion or desire, lack of winning mentality, lack of cohesion, just no backbone whatsoever. The first goal where Mustafi was just brushed aside summed it all up really. We are soft as **** and we do nothing to put it right.
Big issue was that we had too many fans for far too long still rating Wenger and therefore not mobilising together to push him out with toxicity. All that "be careful what you wish for" crap. The man has been a fraud and a parasite for over a decade.
This is the worst shape I've seen Arsenal in for many years. The club just seems to be completely rudderless at the moment. The Board have been coasting for years on the back of top 4 and the odd FA cup here and there and now we don't even have that. The manager cannot seem to motivate the players or turn things around when it goes wrong. We make the same mistakes again and again and do nothing to put it right. It's a really depressing time to be an Arsenal fan at the moment.
