Every manager in the game is on a learning curve. The basic problem with laudrup and Sousa before him is that neither is a fan of media people or kissing ass to players that have a fraction of their ability but the attitude of superstars something that both laudrup and Sousa were.
Michu is a good example of somebody who has all the ability but is humble and interested in learning even more from the coach than he knows now, I get the feeling that the Brits amongst our team like to have the ego stroked massively ala Brendon and Bobby style, it's not then hard to see why top level people like laudrup and Sousa get negative press about them.
As for coaching the players, well we at Swansea must play a certain way, that is written into our DNA and every manager must stick to it ,as laid down by Huw and the board,so I wonder just how much Laudrup can do different anyway.
The problem is that the longer we stay in that league the easier we will be to counter and match in terms of style
of play etc,etc .
The only way around that is to get better quality to play in the same systems, well we ain't got the cash to do that either ! We caught so many teams out with our keep ball over the last 2 yrs that even the big teams must bring the A game to us or risk getting beaten, the mind set has changed, not by us ,but by every other team in the prem league !
Moyes said the same thing a few weeks back, so we are now in a situation where we are trying to improve by still buying players in the bargain basement, sure we will get the odd one who works out but eventually we will stand still and get overtaken, that's a harsh reality of being the smallest club in the prem league.
Why people assume laudrup should be some mastermind coach who takes a team with the lowest playing budget to massive heights season after season I've no idea!
We have lost the surprise element with our playing style but we can't evolve any further with it unless you buy the next level of player and improve the class of the spine of the team.
People are actually expecting us to maintain unrealistic levels of performance for what we have on the field, laudrup was bang on when he said we are in another league , it's just being realistic, there is nothing wrong with his words but there seems to be plenty wrong with some people's expectations of us in this league.
If we don't rate laudrup ,the players he brought into us for peanuts and the league cup win then I really fear for the next bloke!
Let's wait and see where we are in a few games time before we start slating one of the best managers we have ever had , its a dogfight now and it's because of a freak injury list and Europa league not because laudrup isn't good at what he does, let's keep it real folks at least for another few weeks where we can then judge the situation more clear
