Swansea's Michael Laudrup to leave in the summer regardless of whether they are relegated Michael Laudrup is heading for the exit door at Swansea this summer – even if the club stay up. The Swans' hierarchy believe it will be his final season in charge, an that it's just a case of whether the Dane decides to walk away or is pushed. Swansea have held an emergency board meeting to discuss the growing crisis and Laudrup admitted on Tuesday that the club are facing “dark days”. Police were called to the training ground after Chico Flores was allegedly spotted threatening Garry Monk with a brick during an amazing bust-up. There was a boardroom inquest into the row and Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins is understood to be deeply concerned after the flare-up last Friday. Swansea’s players are understood to be fed-up with training and results have shown a desperate dip in form which has plunged them towards the relegation zone. Danish legend Laudrup’s relationship with Jenkins is at breaking point again after the club was last season forced to deny a rift between the pair over transfers and player recruitment. Laudrup has struggled to balance the Europa League – which he has publicly admitted was a priority and fresh challenge for him – with the Premier League, which the board see as a priority because survival in the top flight comes first. Ex-Real Madrid star Laudrup was one of the hottest managerial properties around last summer after winning the Capital One Cup, but it's now believed Swansea would even be willing to reduce his £10m buy-out clause if another club comes in. Laudrup has 17 months left on a contract extended after the Welsh club’s triumph at Wembley last February - it would cost them around £4m to pay him off in the summer. But if Swansea stay up and do relatively well in the Europa League - they have qualified for the knockout stages but face a two-leg tie against Italian heavyweights Napoli next month - a big club may yet come in for him. Laudrup hopes new striker Wilfried Bony, who has struggled to adapt to the Premier League since his big money move, can help lift the mood. He said: “Sometimes you just see dark and not light but when you think everything is negative you have to try and find the positives. The performances of Bony, the way he is adapting to the squad and football, is a light. “He is getting used to the football here. He is getting more shots on target and apart from scoring goals, his last five or six performances in general have been good.” Flores has denied threatening Monk with a brick and said he had a “fantastic relationship” with his team-mate. Monk said: “I have been playing in the professional game for 20 years and training rows are nothing new in a competitive and pressurised environment. Yes, we had words, but at no time was I threatened with a brick by anyone. “The matter has been resolved and we all remain united, whatever nationality we may be, because we wear the same club colours and that is the most important thing. We are a tight-knit group; we always have been and always will be.” - Mirror/John Cross
A season of great expectations hitting the rocks for whatever excuse you want to throw, be it injuries, manager, players, referees, Uncle Tom Cobley et al.!..............
Weird statement. There are barely any "facts" in the Mirror's article... Re:Reality and issues Aren't you the geezer that likes his conspiracy theories? Here's a fact for you Phillip (..and I am not a Tory and nor would I ever vote Tory). The coalition government has got unemployment down to 7.1%.
I see the EP have an exclusive!! EXCLUSIVE: Swansea City line up move for Bolton striker David Ngog Link: http://www.southwales-eveningpost.c...triker-David/story-20473305-detail/story.html Surely this cannot be true? If it is, then we are losing it, much like our terrorwitty!........................
I was 95% sure Laudrup was leaving this summer, last summer . It was hugely important to him to stay somewhere for two season after 3 one sesson stints after Brondby. I'd be waiting till seasons end before calling success or failure, but some fans need something from the team to kick around to satisfy there need to criticize
It's most probably not true....but then you seem to believe things you read in the papers (when it confirms what you want to believe anyway) You seem determined to publically embarrass yourself.... If what you say is true Phillip, and we really are doomed...why would a long standing Jack be enjoying it so much? Revelling in it. What an odd individual you are.
Sports witness are saying very similar? Link: http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/...laudrup-will-probably-leave-swansea-this-summ Terror don't be such a shed man, and chill will you, it's only a game of football, it will all come out in a wash, and we move on to greater and better things!...............
I think Dragon is just pointing out the obvious, which many are trying to pretend isn't happening. Laudrup has been a bit of a disaster this season, so Huw is probably hoping another team want him. But he's not going to be in demand with our current form. It looks like he's a manager that's destroyed out team. Some managers are able to instill confidence in a team. Laudrup doesn't seem to be able to.
Now here's a real Jack, that is a true supporter, who doesn't bury his head in the sand, and throw childish excuses up for our demise, well said Plastic!......
Yes I agree Laudrup is moving on but most of us knew that, it comes as no surprise. I notice he has nothing to say regarding incoming players or transfer targets, this is a sure sign he's going to go at the end of the season. My worry is now that he has no involvement in transfer targets we are drifting back into our old ways targeting championship players Ngog for example a player who has scored 16 goals in 91 appearances for Bolton. God help us.
Thing is, Laudrups stock must be falling the worse we do.....I'm assuming the big name teams will be keeping an eye on his progress or lack of. We are assuming he will leave, but that would involve the right team being managerless and they actually want Laudrup...... It's likely, but not definite for me yet.
I said about a month back that this season is damage limitation, we'll come through it i'm sure, lets just hope our players do, our board will not let us down!.............
I'm sure there'll be a few League One teams that will be happy to have him. Maybe even a Championship team.
Why do we have so much high expectations on ML? He's very new to his managerial career and is learning at the same time as our players. If players have a problem with training they should voice their concerns maturely and ML should take it on board and see what can be adapted. He's in no way the finished article and the expectations of him are purely based on his playing career As for Ngog, please no. He's been dogshite everywhere he's been
Allegedly , understood, believed, may, all buzz words with not one official quoted statement .We're not a "breath of fresh air " anymore (what a condescending statement that was ), just another club who have had our moment in the sun now it's time to knock us back down .He's going at some point it's just a matter of when , no news in that just conjecture
