Rumour has it that Laudrup has fallen out with Huw Jenkins and that relationships have turned particularly sour. Opinion may be split, it may be too early to tell, but that anyone could better Rodgers achievement took exceptional management and to win a trophy - quite outstanding. For me, this guy is going to be one of the brightest stars of managements future and I just wondered if even the Pardew-ites and sympathisers would take a different view if perhaps NUFC had been unsettling him and were considering an approach? He would not cost a lot, would be used to tight budgets and has a world of contacts to exploit.

Wishful thinking? You betcha.
 
Agreed, would be a brilliant appointment and would most likely be at the top of every fans "wish list". However, unfortunately the board have backed Pardew and we must now do the same to give our club that best possible chance of progressing.

Not wanting to sound too much like a Mirror journalist, but HAVE they? I didn't see Pardew or Manager mentioned in Llambias' World-class "affordable football" speech. Don't get me wrong, I'm 99% convinced Pardew will still be here. But by the same token I'm 99% convinced next season will be garbage - yet there's that little glimmer that it won't be! So I'm not giving up on the dream of ousting the useless fecker yet.

The Hughton thing was out of the blue, no-one knew that was coming. And I'm not saying the Echo article was accurate, but when your manager openly talks about needing greater depth and the club line appears to be more or less the opposite, it does still create those flickers of doubt.

I could understand not appointing Rafa, for example - far too expensive, wouldn't work with a confined budget, wouldn't be told "well, this is what you've got matey, work with it". Laudrup seems to be more like "how can I make THIS team better, and if I can spend a lickle bit of cash, happy days".

Don't get me wrong, I probably want Pardew here even less than you (if that's at all possible <laugh>). I just think if they were going to get rid of him they'd have done it by now, the season is over and everyday Pardew remains in charge is a day more preparation that's gone in to next season with him as our manager which for me means that they've backed him for next season at least (and probably longer).

You'd like to think work is going on behind the scenes to sign players that Pardew & Carr have indentified and changing manager now would put all of that ground work back to square one. MA & DL are very thorough when it comes to transfers and the running of the club, so can't see them wanting to disregard 6 months worth of work taken out on player recruitment by bringing in a new manager.
 
If Pards was to go I'd welcome someone like Laudrup. Quite happy to give Pards a bit of time though.
 
On a more serious note, you'd have to question why they have fallen out? Laudrup has been banging the "I need players" drum since the season finished. If its a lack of funs and support, I'm not sure we're a good fit! These managers over here need to learn to live within their means.

Yeah to be fair you've raised a good point here. If he was to be appointed by us (not going to happen) I could see something similar happening in 12 months time with us.

Having said that I do feel with one more winger we actually have top 6 quality in depth regarding our midfield <ok> Only our GK's, Defence and Strike force to strengthen and then we're top four <laugh>
 
I stubbed my toe on the bed this morning and it's that bastard Pardew's fault, it wouldn't have happened if we'd got rid of him. I bet non of the Swansea fans have stubbed their toes since Laudrup took over.

Without two strikers, we're just also rans. Our forward line is criminal. Shola - 2nd choice. He wouldn't be 2nd choice in a fizzy pop squad!
 
Would Ashley consider a manager who is unsettled after falling out with the owner? He wants a docile manager and he's got one in Pardew, why rock the boat, it's completely counter-intuitive to suggest we'd go in for Laudrup (though I'd welcome him with open arms).

Laudrup might attract the players we need, he's got a lot more credibility as a switched on attacking manager than Pardew.

Would Ashley swallow up a smaller sportswear chain on the cheap if it had struggled in the current economy with debts, for example? Yep. The reason Laudrup/Williams are allegedly at odds is over something unrelated to the direction of Swansea.
 
I think that Ashley has made a decision to stick with Pardew or he would have sacked him in the first week of the close season. Whatever else you may say about Ashley, he's not a ditherer.

On the other hand, if someone like Laudrup unexpectedly came on the market he might change his mind.

Or he might not. The KK saga has taught him that any manager will need to understand that he is someone who will probably be consulted on player acquisitions but nto someone who will make any decisions. If Laudrup was happy with that, excellent. If he weren't, it would be the end of the conversation.
 
As long as Ashley believes pardew can keep us in the premier league then Pardew will stay.

Ashley is a business man not a football man, newcastle united is a money maker for him and Pardew is a cheap 'yes man'. Just what Ashley wants.

The TV deal means that the smallest premiership clubs can spend £30million on players and live off the other £70million+. The likes of Swansea have got cash, unless they're weighed down already in financial meltdown.

I get the feeling that any manager who wants the final say in player dealings won't be coming here.
