Well today's the day when I find out what's going to happen.
I hope that just knowing, one way or another, will make me feel better.
Right now I feel as sick as a dog.

I hope my normal level of contributions here can resume after this evening.
Best of luck, I try to lead my life with the outlook of 'this time next week/month/year it's just a memory, and I got through it'. I'm sure things will work out for you.

Good luck Lardi. Seems a harsh way to do things, making you hang on and wait to know what’s happening. Hopefully better news later for you.

Yes.

If it's bad news I would not have been bothered to hear it on the phone.
My Landlord is a decent bloke, based on all my previous interactions with him. Never had any trouble, I have been fortunate.
And that makes me all the more worried. It would be in his character to want to deliver bad news face to face.
An admirable trait, but it has gutted me these last couple of days, worrying about it.

Hey ho. Will know in a few hours.

Morning chaps.

Well, I have about ten weeks to sort out new accommodation.
All options are open within my budget, including perhaps a move back to SE7.
Will be hanging on to my job though if possible.

This may mean I'll not be able to contribute so much between now and April.
I might go AWOL occasionally, but hopefully not for more than a day or two at a time.
And my historical match reports & 2025-26 stats updates may become patchy for a time.

But with a little luck I'll still be around when the move is made.
Thanks in advance for your patience <hug>

Good luck with it Lardi. Often I’ve found that when I look back in later life at what at the time seemed to be a negative event, it turns out to be just what I needed to give me a kick up the backside. Hope you too find some positives further down the road.

How will the commute to work be if you return to SE7 ?

It would not be an ideal situation.
I could drive sometimes, at other times a train up from Charlton then a Tube. Piccadilly or Central.
Remaining based in West London would be less hassle if I can arrange it.

I guess an extra expense as well with the travelling- hope you get something sorted mate :emoticon-0148-yes:

Thanks.
One factor that might draw me back to SE7 is that my old mum's house needs some work.
Redecorating mostly, and garden things. I could help with that, in exchange for a little financial aid.
Would be burning the candle at both ends if I carry on working full time too, but this may be my last chance to sort out the old family home while mother is still with us.
So, things to consider. It will all work itself out one way or another.

If your mum owns the property is it worth looking at things?
I'll not elaborate without talking further as can be sensitive.

Thanks for asking,
Getting my finances sorted right now, and moving some stuff out of the old place.
Work has been kind, they offered me a decent sized shelf in the stores to keep some things temporarily.
Hope to know my money situation (rent budget) by the end of January, then it'll be time to do some flat hunting...

No doubt you are aware of renters rights changes coming in from May 1st.

My son and his partner have just got a new flat in Peckham. There are plenty about but the good ones go quickly.

Peckham's fine, just a bit too dear because of the Dulwich effect. It's changed a bit since Trotters International Trading operated there.
Behave yourself, it is an atrocious place in every way imaginable. It's an absolute toilet.

I have a mate that lives near Telegraph Hill(between Nunhead and Brockley), I was staying there whilst waiting to move into a property I was buying.

Around 6 in the evening, this was in the summer so in broad daylight, a guy was being chased by police, he was on a pushbike, bizarrely the coppers cornered him but he still managed to slip away whilst getting out of the car! Something dodgy was going on, a drug runner perhaps? Anyway, I kid you not, an hour later before we were approaching Peckham High Street, a geezer was selling some drugs at a bus stop, brazen as you like. My wife was with me, now she is a bit innocent to certain things and I had to point out to her what was going on, and that the police chase was 'interesting'.

A month earlier, around lunchtime on a midweek, we went to Morrisons, and that was cordoned off as there had been a stabbing outside.

You'll be saying Croydon is alright next.
