probably the best time ... out of the way, but on the end of the phone .... can now cross the t's and dot the i's I paid 13p each for my last 2 loaves last week put them in freezer use as when needed not paid more than45 p for a loaf for years !
And in fairness 96 was twenty years ago which was not the point. The development methodology used by clubs like Swansea and Souhampton was more in keeping with that of John Laycock, than that of Mr Lansdown of seven years ago where squads of 28 - 35 players were bought in on money the club did not have. That development model was abandoned by Mr Lansdown in favour of gross overspending. Some of the players bought cost millions and ... Hunt, James, Stuyvar ... Hopefully that can never happen again. The now here now is behind. Years behind!
Or is there some reason why he (SL) doesn't WANT us to stay up? I cant think of a reason, but Swindon deliberately threw promotion last season
i see this two ways, either they have finalised the top two or three for SL to be involved with the final so say so. Or they have completely messed up at this end, hence he is taking control of the appointment himself. Now SL said he wants premiership football, then you need a quality manager to give you that, three people stand out 1,Pearson,2,Moyes,3,Warnock one of these should be appointed and given the task. Anything else will be a big let down.
The skill set should meet whatever path Mr Lansdown is setting. You are emphasising names instead of footballing vision which would rule out a Martinez or Rogers earlier in their careers. Anything else could be another Steve Coppell.
The more I think about Tim Sherwood the more he seems a choice. If we are going down the head coach role with someone else monitoring transfers etc could suit him. Wasn't he a good coach at Spurs just gets lost in the transfer market?
Not for me. Did well at Spurs yes but they had/have a very good team and it just 'feels' like the bubble period that many interim managers have (even Millen did). He was only there 6 months. Then the less said about Villa the better (they are just a sinking ship).
Pemberton is hardly setting the world alight. 2 defeats in 3 games so far and another loss more than likely coming on Saturday.
I think Tim Sherwood could be a good a choice as any, one thing the guy does have is passion, would definitely have contacts of players that may want to help him take a struggling team with high expectations on......would be great for his C.V.
We need to at least win 1 draw 1 and lose 1 as a rolling sequence =24 points ! from 18 games . so league wise Pembs has won 1 and lost 1 ....
I think when they gave SC A FAIRLY LONG CONTRACT the plan was to go with it last season although brilliant, upset the applecart league wise we finished up with a half ready team and a panic scenario in the summer.... TS I would give him a 2 1/2 year deal .. 1 to get us back up if needed and 1 to consolidate then review.... that's the worst scenario of course we might stay up .... !
Woke up to this usual drivel kind of statement coming from SL and now I fear for our safety this season. When I hear the words uttered by him I shake in anger because of his clear insistence that only he is capable of sorting out our problems which just in case nobody has noticed were all created by him. Did I miss something because I haven't heard much from John Lansdown lately or has daddy fired him? According to BBC Sport Neil Warnock is now listed as a last minute shock replacement possibility, but don't SL's words poo-poo that nice thought and it's not long now before we hear the magic words that Pemberton has been appointed for the remainder of the season. I believe the club is in turmoil from within and the appointment of yet another guru from Oxford has left me wondering what the hell is going on and is our standing with the rest of the Football League starting to look like a supporter's nightmare. The magic of last season has disappeared from view but at least we won't need GPS to find the familiar grounds out in the sticks because we've been there before. I am absolutely gobsmacked at the same old crap being served up by SL and yet he still expects us to believe everything that comes forth from his mouth and if you read between the lines perhaps you might spot his personal preference for a progressive coach who works well with youth development programmes. To me that means Pemberton will get the job and then we return to the normal for us which is wallowing in a pit of false promises, words and statements meant to get us back on board in the hope department. Of course when we go down to League One it will be a perfect opportunity to start the next rebuild and pull the well worn excuses out of the hat to give the supporters another taste of humility when they learn that we can't afford to compete at any level. Abandon hope all ye who enter here. What a load of garbage and how sad is it when my only remaining hope of staying aboard is the hiring of Neil Warnock and his pantomime horse. Did I just say what I thought I did? - even sadder.
Sorry, it's Millen all over again for me. AN EXPERIENCED AND PROVEN CHAMPIONSHIP (OR BETTER) MANAGER IS NEEDED.
Absolutely nothing.....posted the reply on the wrong thread ! I actually think Sherwood could do a job for us. However he doesn't strike me as someone who would fit with the sort of role we're trying to create, and I don't see him as a yes man either so maybe it's a non starter.
Another working day closes without any hint of players arriving or a new manager being appointed. Tedious and hopeless being a City supporter as I see my club sliding slowly into League One, almost without a whimper.
Very sad all around and things won't change unless a major statement of intent is made by SL on the managerial front, or the addition of better players.
