None of the above have provided the aspiration the Landsdown's are seeking, so they probably think, what the hell. To me, it shows they are the problem, it can't be all of the above, surely they must see this, multiple options, and yet still not reached the play-offs, albeit we came close a couple of times, but close isn't enough, clearly.
I am very underwhelmed if it is the guy from Oxford, but as always, I will support the manager and wish him every success.

Found this on the Bristol Live site. A big step up from managing a L1 side, to a club where the owners expect to be challenging for promotion to the PL, but we shall see, his pedigree look not too bad tbh. The highlighted piece sounds familiar..


He’s only been in charge at the Kassam Stadium since March but has transformed their fortunes from being relegation strugglers to promotion contenders as the Us currently sit second in League One, three points behind Portsmouth.
Prior to that he led MK Dons to the play-offs in his first senior position in English football but was sacked the following campaign after a number of his key players were sold. Manning has also worked in the Belgian second division with Lommel SK and in the coaching set-ups at West Ham and the City Football Group, spending time in America.
Manning favours a high-intensity, attacking approach, akin to the style Tinnion wants to see throughout the City set-up from Under-16s through to senior level, with a focus on individual player development.

But if Oxford carried on this season as they are going, then he would be someone we will be saying we should have gone for.
Potter and Cooper before Swansea were not well known. Bet you would take one of those now?
Kieran McKenna doing a good job at Ipswich and then you’ve Rob Edwards at Luton. Not all up and coming managers are LJ mark 2.
Will Still would have been my favourite but we’ve as much chance of him as me shagging Michelle Keegan. And yet he’s an up and coming manager.

Will Still never heard off him -i got plenty of stihl garden machinery <laugh><laugh><laugh>

I could understand the reasoning of getting rid of Nig if his replacement was an upgrade, but not this. It just shows football reasons we’re not why Nige left.

He's managing Reims in France, they get fined 25,000 euros every game he manages because he doesn't hold any badges, he's played that game football manager and that helped him become a coach

<doh><doh><doh><doh><doh> I said Micky and Minnie mouse would be the next managers surely this is a joke appointment or have the favourites walked away from the offer. According to this guy from Oxford on Saturday he had not had any contact with Bristol City now he is favourite for the job. Scraping the barrel comes to mind.

you need to read more comments about the "favourites" and understand that the bookies install the favourites they install the odds they could make the manager of Paulton rovers favourite for a day and still take cash from the mugs ... sorry punters!
Was there not a comment that one of the "top 3 or 4" on the short list was stated that he was not ... also FL when mentioned attracted no comment just a rather dont think so smile!!! ...etc etc etc
Chances are from what is "so called the news now" most of the shortlist was bookies listing of money grabbing opportunties.

Many years ago spoke to a bookie after I had bet the so called favourite at SP 3 races before it raced by name, after a win in the first race , ... he happily paid me out the 8/1 sp price [ favourite started at 5/4 sp and came in second last of about 12 / 16 or so runners. How come he was 8/1 when the SPORTING life and pre race forcasts had it at 4/5 ? no way we could let it start at favourite!... yes we paid out a few at 8/1 but it would have been about 1/6 had we not made it seem like it was not trying! ..... bit like SC / JE/ GR/FL ALL HAD A TURN AT FAV! ..............

But you don't know he won't be an upgrade though, do you. Yes, he clearly doesn't have NP's record, but so what, what did NP's record really do for us? Personally, I said many times that I'd like us to opt for a young hungry manager, rather than another old dinosaur (which NP could be classed as).

Look any appointment could work, but this isn’t an upgrade, I’m sorry but it isn’t. It’s an appointment on the lines of LJ, a young coach that will be able to be manipulated, as apposed to a wily old fox who won’t take no sh!t, I don’t blame the guy, of course he’s going to give it a go, and I hope it works. But I’m no fool I can see exactly what the Lansdown’s did. They’ve made a Rod for their own backs though, if he doesn’t get us in the playoffs this season we’ll be asking questions of the hierarchy, not the head coach.

weird thing about NP when he came here he made comment along the lines of head coach? ... manager? whatever I am!
