The cafe is still there.. I will try the scones next time I'm up there..Used to take the kids to Dodd Woods Cafe, they did the best cream scones we've ever had, mind that was over 30 years ago.
Mrs. A and I have been to Low Wood Bay quite a few times . . . . it's an absolutely lovely hotel, with lovely facilities and views (we've always had a Lake View Room)
It's nice and central, too. The last time we went there we enjoyed 'fine dining' at The Samling next door, which was fantastic![]()

Absolutely knackers my shins every time I come down off that fell.11 of us broke free from wives and kids to act up a little for two nights.
12 pint session Friday night and Saturday saw the main event. 3 different walks with ke taking the least risky as I am operating on one eye currently.
I walked from Ambleside to Troutbeck then up Wansfell pike and back down into Ambleside. Total ascent was less than 500 metres but it was well over an hour climb.
Walking down was 90 minutes eith lots of view stops.
Curry and beer last night now home and stiff as a board.
Lakes is a nice place but the grockle tax is very annoying.
I live hereAbsolutely love the lake district and go there at least once a year to do fell walking, rock climbing and kayaking..

It’s mine and Cumbrians localOne of my fave gaffs on earth mate, no exaggeration at all.
Everything is perfect.

Put it this way somebody bought a boat house near Windermere marina for £300,000 so the properties are mentalI could certainly see myself doing that in a few years mate. I’ve always said I want somewhere peaceful with a bit of land when the times right. If I could chuck views of the lakes in on top that’d be all the better.
I shouldn’t imagine property with good land comes cheap on the banks of Windermere mind![]()

That's my wife's lottery dream, but one of the million pound plus houses on the road between Bowness and Newby Bridge.
We all should have a dream, mine is living long enough to see the lads win the Premier League![]()
