Some twitter info from a good source...

@Agent_Edward: I'm told Newcastle have agreed a fee with Lyon for Lacazette.

Maybe HBA goes as a sweetener?

Buy him, buy him now and get him to pack Grenier in his luggage when he comes for the medical. Do Lyon gave a CB we could have as well?

Can't see it happening all summer we have had ups and downs I so hope it does that would be a great signal of intent

Have to say, I know it's twitter and all of that but this chap is a credible source and a real agent. He has over 90,000 followers too.

@The_Pi_Show: It would appear that it's now up to the main man Lee Charnley to persuade Lacazette his future lies at Newcastle.
#FullFaithInLee

His record ain't that good to be honest..for that sort of money I'd be going balls out for a proven Premier League goalscorer like Remy. (4/6 to sign according to Skybet).

"Much will be expected from the former Ajax captain Siem de Jong, the France international Rémy Cabella, former Monaco striker Emmanuel Rivière, the Dutch World Cup right back, Daryl Janmaat and Colback. Ayoze Perez and Facundo Ferreyra have been added to give Newcastle more striking options.

A fee that could rise to £15 million has also been agreed for Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, but the player is still in need of convincing that a season outside the Champions League will not be damaging to his career."

I can see this being done. But not for £15m.

But then again do we need a striker? Weve got papiss!

Nevermind Lacazette, much bigger news has occured which has rocked my world. We have missed out signing the fella with the best name in all of the English leagues. A natural goalscorer and only 21. We will live to rue this day. Pardew out!!!!

Britt's a good player, yes, but 8mill for him? Absolute joke from forest, Barry Fry showing yet again that he is the best in the business

5.5m rising to 8m. I suppose if he delivers and ends up costing 8m, their view will be he has paid for himself. A lot of money as you say. Obviously my remarks are slightly tongue in cheek but I have been impressed by him.

Lads,
First post always have a read now and again i was on bbc 606 but anyhow,
For me if this story is true and IF we do get him I think it will show the rest of the league that we aren't going to roll over anymore in the league, but I do agree that we need another cb get rid of saylor and i'll be happy for once coming into the new season:D

I know all and sundry are claiming that Lacazette issued an 'I'm not leaving' statement yesterday, but really it was very carefully worded to say nothing of the sort. Empty platitudes and nothing of substance, I would not be reassured if I were a Lyon fan.

Apparently he scored in a friendly today and his body language was that of a player saying his goodbyes. Mark Douglas has a piece in tomorrows Journal which claims that NUFC are very close to an agreement in principle with Lyon. Publicly the player has played things down but apparently, behind the scenes, his advisers have been far more positive with regards a move to NUFC. I really hope that Lacazette to NUFC is a rumour that actually happens.

Finally Graeme Bailey who has a very good track record with accurate transfer news has this to say:

Alexandre Lacazette says he is ready to start new season at Lyon, but he doesn't rule out move - still Newcastle's main target.
