Unlike football clubs, cycling teams / sponsors have a limited life span ~ 10 years not bad ...

    Our letter to you

Sky has announced this morning that its ownership and sponsorship of Team Sky will end on 31 December 2019. So that means next year will be our last year racing as Team Sky.

This news will no doubt come a surprise to many people but, as you may know, there has been a lot of change at Sky recently. It is the start of a new chapter for the company and sometimes it is inevitable that change brings further change with it. That is what has happened here.

Over the past nine seasons, Sky has backed us all the way, enabling us to achieve some amazing results and inspire millions of people to love our sport. We’d like to thank Sky for all of their support, and in particular the opportunity to help Britain become a cycling nation.

First things first, nothing changes for next year. Sky are fully committed to the end of 2019 and together we have ambitious goals for the season. We all want to close the Team Sky story with the strongest possible finish. We are more motivated as a Team than we have ever been.

In terms of the future, we are open minded. If we can find a new long-term partner to take the Team forward into a new era, then we will do so. And we will be doing everything we can to make that happen over the coming weeks and months. Equally, any future partner would have to be the right partner - one who shares our ethos and buys in to our values.

This news has only just been announced; we can’t predict what will happen from 2020 and there are no guarantees. Whatever happens, we will make sure there is clarity one way or the other about the future of the Team before the Tour de France next July.

Finally, a big thank you to all of our fans. You are, and have always been, the people who are the most important to us and who matter the most. It has been our privilege to race for you. We are proud to have written our pages in the history books and created memories that will never fade.

And rest assured we are not done yet by any means. Right now, the Team is at training camp putting in the hard work to get ready for next season. We can’t wait to see you all out on the road in the New Year.

I have been watching the highlights daily and this year not much British interest, as the British members of Inious team have not excelled and their best rider sits in 43rd position on GC which is Woet Poels. The best British rider, who is doing well is James Knox (Quick step), 4th in the young riders white jersey and sitting 18th overall.

This year the Slovenians are controlling the race ROGLIC Primož is 2.25 ahead of Valverde, and the find of the tour is 20-year old POGACAR Tadej another Slovenian who is 3rd and winning the young riders and 3.01 down on his compatriot Roglic. Podacar is a GC winner of the future for sure, he can time trial as well as climb an amazing talent.

    It's Roglic to lose now.

Probably because there are no Brits with a chance of competing, there seems to be bit of a changing of the guard going on, some good young riders coming through. The Yates brothers, Knox and Tom Pidcock look to be the next possibilities, once Thomas and Froome start to fall away.

I've been watching the highlights and have hardly seen an Ineos rider , I was wondering if they were actually in the race

You're right though , there are plenty of young British riders coming through for the future

During the week a helicopter shot picked up greenery on a house room.
Police noticed and raided what turned out to be a drugs farm...ironic.

As you say the irony of it, for once a drug related issue has been a plus.

I have to say this year's race has been excellent, 2 days ago, on a flat stage, which normally is a day off so to speak for the GC contenders, because of crosswinds, Moviestar plan turned into a masterstroke for Nairo Quintana, who went in a break away from the off, and finished up gaining over 5 minutes on the other GC hopefuls. It still leaves Rogic over 2 minutes again of him but bumps Quintana up to 2nd.

Apparently, It was the fasts stage raced over 200 Kilometre ever recorded in professional cycling history, covering the 220K at an average speed of 50.63k per hour.

Well, Roglic won the Vuelta barring any mishap and well deserved. Though his fellow countryman Pogacar at 20 years old is some talent, blew everyone away on the last competitive stage, and brought himself up to 3rd place and on to the podium. He really has a great future this lad.
