I'm glad that he tried to win it, we were at home and 3 points gained is much better than 1 point lost IMO. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I can just imagine the stick RK would've got if he had not made a substitution and it finished 0-0.

Nothing to do with hindsight - I said from the stands the moment he made the sub that he was taking the wrong player off. As I've already said Mane was definitely the right decision to make and yes I would have been unhappy if he made no substitution but as I've seen hundreds of posters agreeing with me about Reed I've got it out of my system.

My God, this thread...!

He was trying to win the game ffs. It didn't on this occasion work. JWP is more likely to create a chance than Reed.
No need for that? If I don't like a thread I don't post on it. But since you're here..there is a way of trying to win a game without risking losing it. And I already do proclaim Ronald a genius but he made a mistake in mine and hundreds of other people's books. I just wanted to see if others agreed and it turns out most do. :emoticon-0136-giggl

He took a risk. There was no threat at all in reality from Swansea, so he took off a defensive player for an attacking one, and unfortunately they scored with their only (very good) shot on target. It was a calculated risk and it backfired (whether or not it backfired because it was Reed that was taken off is VERY debatable).

You seem to be laying the blame for this defeat on that substitution which (in my opinion) is wrong.

Tadic has always been rubbish playing on the right and no way should he be taking corners, that's JWPs job. Reed should have stayed on and Tadic should have been subbed off in my humble opinion, no good crying over spilt milk, how better will we be with our engineroom restored against QPR?

He has looked poor on the right but actually I thought he played well today, in the first half anyway.

Meanwhile, it wasn't really that bad a substitution, RK was going for the win and he put a player who has looked really great for us in his last few games.

He possibly could have taken off JWP but in the end the goal was almost a replica of the shot that hit the post, with a neat off the ball run from Gomez that dragged our defence away, and Reed was on the pitch at that time so......

I would have kept Reed on the pitch because at the moment he's our most (and probably only) defensive minded midfielder. Davis and JWP can't work as a defensive midfield pairing, they're as tough as butter.

But I don't think the substitution has affected the game massively. There was really only one opening for Shelvey, and he scored a cracker. 9 out of 10 times he would have missed.

Now in the game I watched I saw Davis covering the back 4 all 90 minutes!
