I think the contract stand-off then the injury did for him. He could have broken into the team at the start of last season when Parkinson *shudder* was manager but he lost half a season and by the time he was back, the team had moved on and he was nowhere near contention.

Another case of a player/agent thinking he is better than he actually is

I agree, he blew his chance bigtime, another young player with a bad attitude, life's too easy for some , and they don't realise it, until its too late.

a hundred times this , you sum it up perfectly Clocky, most young Sunderland footballers would give anything to have the chances he has had
Agreed mate. I would have given everything for just half a chance at pro. Plenty of pros get there on attitude more than talent and far too many have more than enough talent but a crap attitude. I remember reading about Gareth Southgate at Palace. When he landed as a young lad other younguns thought he was useless and couldnt understand why he was there. Coaches saw a very different player, someone whose workrate and attitude were second to one. Only had to be showed something once, or asked to do something once. As a first teamer noone had a bad word for him, because he was a team man and always had a 100% attitude.

Yeah, but he was piss poor at penalties<laugh>

I was surprised when he came back last time. Was obvious he only came back as there was no better offers, was surprised the club didn't **** hik off then as his attitude had been questioned for a while. Even then there was very little to suggest he had any chance of making an impact here, but plenty to suggest he wouldn't!
