Wahbi Khazri: “I am open to offers and projects. I am looking to make a change.” Speaking to SFR Sport this evening, Sunderland’s attacking midfielder Wahbi Khazri confirmed that he was looking for a new club in the final days of the window. “In my head, I want to leave. I am open to listening to offers and projects and above all I am looking for a project that allows me to kick-start and enjoy life on the pitch… My priority is to stay in the Premier League. When you have tasted the Premier League, you don’t want to leave it… I am open to all leagues and clubs.” Sivasspor and Galatasaray have approached the player.
Well that seems like a perfect answer to the question that was asked on here about 10,000 times last season.
This is a pattern that keeps repeating. Talented foreign player signs for SAFC, shows how good he is for a bit, goes off the boil, gets dropped for someone with half the ability but a bit more work rate, talented foreign player decides he wants to leave. Not every foreign player can have a bad attitude. I'd like to know why this keeps happening.
They don't. But when your owner is starting to reduce the spending as prices go up you tend to get left with 3 choices. Crooks, OAPs and arseholes. Now look at our transfer business in recent seasons. That's what's happened imo.
Shame but we move on. We not going to miss him because he hasn't done **** all this season. Bye bye fat ass
You would think I'd have gotten that! The water in the north east has addled my brain! I'll have to get myself back to York
But then the same must apply to British Isles players and it doesn't. Or at least not to the same extent. Plus, this pattern reaches further back than Short's reluctance to spend. To some extent, it may be that we can't attract top drawer foreign signings but I think there may be more to it.
I think part of it is that we haven't had managers who know how to handle them apart from Allardyce. The same players who looked great under him suddenly couldn't be arsed under Moyes and there were plenty of managers with the same problem prior to Allardyce too.
Ha, went into this on Com's follow up thread on this subject. Gibson, Bardsley, Wickham, Bent, Aj? It does imo. I don't think it's a race thing, I think it's a spoiled culture thing that no nationality is immune to. Of course it's going to look like one is worse than the other when you're comparing the tiny British isles to the massive entire rest of the planet. This country has seen a lot of overseas players pass through. Most model professionals.
Can't really blame him. Quality footballer who was never give a chance AFTER he showed us how much quality he had. This is the hangover from David Moyes reign, imo.
I'm not saying it's a race (nationality would be more accurate) thing. Like you say, any footballer can have a bad attitude. I meant that using the logic that we can only sign foreign OAPs, crocks, or arseholes would indicate that we can only sign British players of the same stamp. Which isn't wholly the case. What I'm getting at is that the foreign players that have been tarred with having a bad attitude don't necessarily have a bad attitude at all but are painted as such.
