Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho is closing in on a move to Leicester City, sources close to the Etihad outfit have told ESPN FC.
Iheanacho's future at City has been the subject of speculation this summer with the player struggling to establish himself in Pep Guardiola's plans.

The Nigeria international started only one game for City in 2017 -- the very first match of the year against Burnley. He was pushed down the pecking order by the arrival of Gabriel Jesus, and couldn't force his way into his manager's thoughts when the Brazil international was sidelined for two months with a broken foot.
West Ham expressed an interest, but sources have told ESPN FC that they are no longer interested and have moved onto other targets.

That has cleared the path for Leicester to land the 20-year-old, and they are in advanced talks with Manchester City over a £25 million deal.
Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare is keen to strengthen his attacking options this summer and he sees Iheanacho as an ideal partner for Jamie Vardy.
Iheanacho joined Man City's academy in 2014 after impressing with Nigeria at the Under-17 World Cup, but he had to wait until 2015 to play for the club due to work permit issues.

He broke into Man City's first team in the 2015-16 season and has scored 21 goals in 64 appearances with many of them coming off the bench.
He would become Leicester's third signing of the summer, with Vicente Iborra signing for the Foxes on Thursday to add to the earlier capture of Hull City's Harry Maguire.

The sticking point seems to be the buyback clause - from what I am reading about this kid, he could be someone that you build your team around and if there is a chance that he could leave without a struggle, we might be having second thoughts.

Interestingly Ulloa is being offered a new contract.

Hopefully that will swing it for us in terms of us being his choice. These buy back clauses should be banned unless they are stupid money. If they were though big clubs will just loan out the players instead so unless a ban was put on the level of loans out a club is allowed...

West ham have ended their interest in Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho leaving Leicester City all in the clear to sign the forward before the end of the ongoinv summer transfer window, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
West Ham expressed an interest, but sources close to the player revealed they have ended their interest in the forward as they fail to reach an agreement with City on various aspect of the deal particularly the issue of buy back clause.
That has cleared the path for Leicester to land the 20-year-old, and they are in advanced talks with Manchester City over a £25 million deal, which could be wrapped as early as next week, as Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare is keen to strengthen his attacking options this summer and he sees Iheanacho as an ideal partner for Jamie Vardy.
Iheanacho would become the third signing of the manager who has already secured Hull City’s Harry Maguire and Sevilla’s Vincent Iborra, above all he will be hoping the forward replicate the form that saw him score 21 goals in 64 appearances with many of them coming off the bench.

The buy back clause relies on one huge factor though and that's the player himself. Yes City can activate his release clause but it doesn't necessarily mean he'll want to leave.

I mean they haven't treated him well and he'll be made to feel special here so why would he want to go back to City? For success I hear rumbles of but let's not forget what our owners ambitions are and by the time City will look to bring him back, our owners ambitions could well be in fruition with us playing CL football and chasing titles and having as much chance as City. This IS the reality of where this club is heading so I say sign him, let them have the release clause and then make him feel like he doesn't want to leave for a club who discarded him.

The lad is an exciting talent ... I'm liking the way we are starting to shape up - far more options than last season ...

I think we will try and sign another centre half aswell. Maybe Shakey views Amartey as right back cover but I would like to see Simpson has some proper competition

Didn't treat him very well? they only gave him many games in the first team whilst they were fighting for the title in which he acquitted himself very well. Now, because he has world class talent ahead of him, they are giving him a chance to go to a smaller club to hone his skills whilst offering a route back to the top when he is ready.

Ahh, the owners ambitions. If only other clubs owners had them :(

The reality is, all the top half teams will be fighting to get higher than last season (except Chelsea) and at the moment you are starting from way back below them.

I'm sad to admit that I agree - we were fighting relegation last season and we are behind all the teams in the top half of the table.

No we're not, only in your head.

I can't believe you can't see how good we are and seriously think clubs like Neverton, WBA, Southampton, West Ham and Bournemouth are ahead of us. How many of them won the league and reached the CL quarters?

Great Escape won 7 out of 9 then lost four out of 47 and then Shakey took 22 points from 10 games with a depleted squad and rotation.

When have any of those clubs EVER picked up points on that ratio? They haven't and they won't but we will again because that's just how good we are when played to our strengths.

What Leicester do you see because we're obviously looking at two different teams and you've still got Ranieri in charge.

Yeah of course we are, we didn't start playing until February and finished what a couple of points off 8th? Imagine if he'd been sacked a month earlier we would have finished 8th without question. At Shakey's ratio of 1.76 points per game, which included us playing three games without a midfield or defence and rotating for CL games, over 38 games would be 67 points, or enough for 7th. Take the ten before we were hit with injuries and had no defence or midfield and it's 2.2 per game and enough for 84 points. I've never seen anyone but the top four pick up points on that ratio.

Oh and we've proven we can do it consistently over 38 games, when has anyone else done that? I must have missed Neverton's title win or was it Southampton?

Got to admit you stick up for your (our) team, but after 38 games we did finish 12th and were always nearer relegation than the top 6. I hope Iheanacho does come as he is a far better option for us than Musa or Ulloa

You are the one that is living in your head in the past - we finished 12th in the league and we aren't the champions of England or in Europe any more. Whatever we did 3 seasons and 2 managers ago is irrelevant to now as well.

Those other "lesser" clubs in your eyes finished above us. You can act as petulant as you want and call all them names but that is the fact that matters - we had a good run in the middle where we won 5 in a row that gives hope for the future but that does not magically improve our standing.
