I think if we really do want Butland we could get him for about 8/9 million. It is a heck of a lot of money for such a young and inexperienced keeper but he is definitely going to become a top keeper and maybe even world class keeper in the future. With him being so young we could have a number 1 keeper for the next 10/15 years. If a big club came in for him in that time then we we would get double what we paid for him. I definitely think he´s worth paying big money for.

Gazzaniga would be a steal at anything under £1.5M - when Butland payed @ Gillingham last season he was at best very average and not worth any more than Gazza.

Suspect Butland is being priced out of the market, so Gazzaniga may be the better option.

You say that, but I'm hearing £2m + for Gazzaniga! Martin Allen has been quoted as saying £2m is a huge amount for a L2 team and would be the difference between turning them from playoff hopefuls to title challengers.

Gazzaniga sounds good from reports, but £2m+ - sounds steep

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Jason Steele. I know we can't just have who we want but I always thought he was a good, young goalkeeper.

I've mentioned him a couple of times, established Championship keeper too. Would be a better option than Butland imo.

Butland says he wants first team football, but he won't necessarily get it Saints. We have an established keeper and he'd have to wait for injury to get a chance unless Davis has a 'mare of a season (which I doubt).

He can't seriosly expect to walk into a premier league first team. Even Hart had to wait for his chance!

A few people have mentioned him this summer. Personally he doesn't do it for me. Better options out there I'd say. Just because the lad is young, shouldn't really mean that he gets a head-start in people's minds with regards to a new keeper. I can name you many keepers who I believe were better than him in the Championship last season.

If he's a very good keeper, his distribution would be worth a few bob on its own. I understand his excellent long ball passing is not confined to a few Youtube videos. It brings another yet another variation to the game.
