So in summary, and ignoring Elfs’ 8 irrelevant posts, we all think that selling Grant is -

1. A sensible business decision

2. A typically bad football decision - IF he is not replaced.

Grant missed a penalty against Peterboro, but he also scored a high pressure one against Accrington the week before. No, he's not prolific, but he is scoring and has an understanding with Taylor. I'm repeating Lardi's post here, but there is no guarantee that this will be the case with a new striker. If the Huddersfield rumour is true, this would be an absolutely logical decisión under normal football circumstances. You could get a fair bit of league 1 strike power for 2m. But we won't be reinvesting the 2m so we'll be replacing Grant with the usual cut price stuffe we get from football jumble sales. I may be wrong, and RD may decide we are in a position where reinvesting the money would make more long term sense than pocketing it - even a broken clock is right twice a day. But it would be a stand out change of direction if so, and we would also have to hope that Bow and his scouts not only have the two replacements we need, but that the guys we need are prepared to come, and that their clubs are prepared top reléase them.
Yes, we can always do better than Karlan Grant. But he has actually set the bar fairly high for an incoming striker, who needs to forge an immediate rapport with the rest of the team. I'd vaguely trust Bowyer to pick one who night, but that RD would spend to do so. Anyone remember the training ground we were going to get with the Lookman money? :emoticon-0140-rofl:

£2m is a good price for Grant, and under normal circumstances No-one would raise an eyebrow about the sale. By normal circumstances I mean we have a squad containing 4 strikers and an owner who would reinvest at least part of the money. But we only have 2 strikers and the other one is suspended. Bowyer said at the start of the season that he was satisfied with the squad so on the face of it it seems he is partly responsible for the lack of balance in the squad. He and Steve Gallen will be extremely busy in the next few days trying to shape a squad which will continue the promotion push. On Roland's budget good luck to them.

Also from a Hudderfield perspective, but with a different emphasis on the 'no brainer' aspect.

Presumably Huddersfield see Grant as a punt for when they are back in the Championship next season.

Personally I don't think the player is good enough for that level.

The Peterborough hod carriers didn't give him a kick on Saturday.
