He has yet to reach his peak and obviously has talent....just think of our possible first team next year it will have a chance to grow together with an average age of around 24.... Bart 23 Rico 28 Jose 27 Martin 21 Dicko 24 Chambo 17 Spider 21 Cork 22 Lallana 23 Lukas 22 Rickie 29
Hi Saints Alive, another seasoned 606 er with a good bit of insight. I still think Guly is better than Barnard or from what I hear of Jutkeiwicz, who would you pick from that trio to partner Lambert?
In exchange for Puncheon, I would take both money and James Beattie from Rangers. We wouldn't need Jutkiewicz then.
Hi OROW, yes I too would pick Guly to partner Rickie simply because I think that he has the skill to be very useful in the Championship and he will be a big player for us next year with regards to the creativity to make and score goals. My point is that we have a young squad and we are building not only for the Championship but also to compete in the Premier League and we haven't seen the best of our squad's capability yet in my opinion.
Fair enough Saints Alive, I agree but I don't see how adding average players helps except adding to the wage bill. I think we might as well wait around until the right players come along. Dellboy - I really think that Puncheon is a good player and maybe if he does not have a future with us we should make sure that we should get some add ons. I would definitely not blow the money on Beattie though as I think he is too similar to Lambert in his attributes and sadly is not the same player that once loyally played for us.
And Sky Sports are never wrong. Remember yesterday: Cork was going to Sunderland and we are in League 1.
I think a lot of people on here are basing their opinions on the fact he scored one good "wonder goal" in scotland. He was not outstanding in the championship by any stretch, but if Adkins rates him then thats good enough for me.
Everyone's discussing the lineup as if it's either/or. We are allowed substitutes and Nigel is actually good at that, so Lambert will be well supported by Guly, Barnard and Connelly at different times. And let's not forget our strong midfield (drool).
Hi Kingsland, I know a lot of people like Barnard for his work ethos, however he does not have the technique and guile of Guly. If I was a defender I would much rather be marking Barnard as you know what you will get for him. I am not too sure if we will cut it at this level and all the off field pressures may get to him. I am not saying that I do not value him as a squad player, however I do not think he be feared by the majority of Championship defences.
