They did need more passion, but if you consider it's most likely a case of "the club doesn't care so why should I?" then they can hardly be blamed. It's blame shifting again.

I used it on a jealous Hull thread recently, and even that lot seemed to enjoy it!

Marko, it's only you that feels the need to twist every thread around in order to commence a vitriolic rant. Everyone else holds the same opinions as you, but doesn't feel the need to poison all of the threads on the board. That's why I'm having a go at you. Familiarise yourself with the phrase 'less is more'.

So why is it only you & Marko that's telling me this? If a large number of people posted against my view, I'd concede I was wrong. They haven't. How many people have had a go at Marko for repeatedly turning threads into anti-Bates rants - more than the two of you. I suspect the majority just go to the next thread and hope Marko hasn't posted yet.

Just to be clear - I am as anti-Bates as the next guy. Indeed probably all our posters feel exactly the same way. But do we feel the need to post the same vitriol 20 times a day? No. 'Nuf said.

Talk about confusing. Who commenced the vitriolic ranting?

What's fascinating is that neither Marko nor me have a problem in debating opinions about LUFC. You see mto have a problem with people having an opinion that you don't like, or to put it another way, continues to be played at you because you do not have a cogent argument against it.

But what you will finds the last couple of weeks is that I have not been arguing anti-Bates most of the time, and have specifically saved those points for threads that are aimed categorically at either promoting Bates as some sort of paragon of virtue (such as this one) which naturally is asking for an argument or threads that do not discuss LUFC at all but rather discuss the opinions and discussions of people on this forum (such as that started by Eire).

But I am not even arguing any of that here. What appals me on this thread is that people seem to be arguing that Marko has claimed he does not care about this guy. Marko has not stated that once, yet he has received vitriol from the likes of you who claims he is doing that.

I just wish you would pull back a bit and think what you are writing before you write it and make sure you are arguing the right point, not making straw-man arguments.

Despite being fairly drunk (as a uni student, this is standard procedue) I would just like to point out that this thread is in no way aimed categorically at promoting Bates as some sort of paragon of virtue. i don't like him, and probably never will, i was merely pointing out that it's nice to see that, as a human being as opposed to a businessman, he has some sense and he's not genuinely and wholly evil, as most of the posters on here seem to assume. the fact that we take a story as heartwarming as this and make it all about bates and football kinda worries me. at the end of the day, this man is a hero, and the fact you consider football and bates to be above his story is quite disconcerting. football is in no way more important than heroic stories like these (although i do see the irony in the fact he clearly values us immensely) and i don't see the point in arguing the same point for the 5000th time when faced with a story like this. just accept it for what it is. i'm sorry if i came across as if i was forgiving bates or anything - i'm not. despite this being a football forum, i'd just like to think, for once, we could put bates and our differences aside and congratule both him, and more importantly, the man for the incredibly heartwarming story this truly is. i'm completely with whitejock in that not every thread needs to cover bates, we're already well aware of what he's doing to the club. i wanted to share this man's story with the rest of the forum - not my fault if the guy who posted it on truelad made bates out to be some sort of hero. he's not. we know that.

As an aside, I'd like to add that the whole 'truelad' fad is quite cringeworthy. :bandit:

And this is coming from a uni student who is also under the influence... of caffeine.

If I were older, I'd probably have a job which didn't allow me to be on here for ridiculous amounts of time every day! Although ellandback and bucks somehow seem to manage it in their 'employments'...

And please don't tell me you're one of these people who describes things as 'bantaaah', or I might have to lose all hope that there's any sanity left in the world!

Your opinion is that it is nice to see bates doing something regarding a story you like.

As prev stated, I don't see anyone on this thread having a problem with the lad, but people ARE
allowed to have a different opinion than yours on whether this makes bates out to be a good guy.

Lambasting people for disagreeing with the premise of your article just shows you up.

But we KNOW this one thing doesn't make Bates a good guy! I thought it was a nice gesture by Bates, but the main part of it was simply the man's incredible efforts to support Leeds United. I don't like the story because of Bates' involvement, but he played a part and (I'm not looking for ulterior motives here, whether I should or not is another matter for debate) it would be childish to deny it. I still dislike the man just as much as you do.

Sorry if I've come across as lambasting people for their disagreement though <ok>
