I suspect that decision was made on the basis that Cesar would depart this window once our relegation was confirmed. Harry played him last season without any apparent issues

Probably.....none of us know what has gone on behind the scenes.....

Indeed Tramore none of us know the full picture - did we actually get any concrete offers for Cesar? Who knows.

Anyway, at the moment we have the current Brazilian national keeper and an ex England keeper on our books.

Sounds good to me

Certainly does wubba......now we dare not mention the "g" word, but we should have more than enough in this squad to have a right good go at an immediate return to the top flight......and then it can all start again.....

Personally I think IF we do by some miracle achieve promotion then Remy & Adel will return and we have Cesar still on the books.

I'm sure that's the club's current thinking hence the short term deals to get us up

Swords, we know very little if anything about Cesar's lifestyle to say it wouldn't change if he took a large paycut.

If his lifestyle isn't sufficiently catered for on 40-50 thousand pounds a week, then I 'd suggest his lifestyle is quite extraordinary - to put it politely.

I agree compared to the average bloke in the street its obscene but again I suspect very few of us in his position would do what you apparently would do with such magnanimity.

I would totally disagree with that. Not only do I think most of us would do it but I think there's few players even in this day and age of piggishness, that would sacrifice their career prospects and playing at the highest level just to collect a few extra grand at the end of the week.

And its nothing to do with magnanimity, its the fact that most people simply don't put more emphasis on the mighty pound than its worth. You might act differently in such circumstances and more luck to you. Just a difference of opinion that's all.

Talk is cheap

You can choose to believe I'm not genuine in saying what I'd do in his position. That's fine. But as I said, I believe most people would behave differently.

Cesar has a signed contract the club offered him and he's entitled to honour it. Blimey how often do we chastise players for not honouring their contracts??
We can't have it both ways - or are you suggesting we can if we feel morally outraged?Again on the subject of Cesar - see Phillip Beard

He is and as I said in a post above, I entirely agreed with your synopsis. In fact, I was the first one who chastised the Board, without mentioning Caesar, before you joined this thread.

I wouldn't feel overly antagonistic toward the player. Its the Club's fault, not his. That doesn't mean that I can't find his behaviour very odd for a professional footballer striving to be the best he can be in his profession. Morally outraged? Certainly not. Bemused at what I see to be more about greed than ambition? Yes.

what's the deal with all our players out, I know Tarbs, Remy, Mbia are all loans, but how about Granero and all the rest? Have been more or less offline for last 5 or 6 weeks, only made time to watch the games.

and re Cesar, I don't think he's sacrificing his career by staying with us. he's made his career before us in Inter, winning CL with them and a few serie A titles, and his career will be over in a couple years anyhow. he isn't getting any younger, you know.

The World Cup is next Summer

I am fully aware of the world cup, just think it is a slight exaggeration to say he is sacrificing his career if he misses it by staying with us.

Although I am sure he would love to play in the WC, especially in his native Brazil, just can't see it as a career ending desicion to stay with us even if it means he won't be in the Brazil squad next summer. And if he can fight and take the No1 spot at R's, and plays well enough, who says he won't be in the squad?

Sorry mate, it don't matter how you dress it up but for one of the supposed best keepers in the World to be in the English second division (on the bench), is just plain weird if you take money out of the equation. Even forgetting about Brazil and the World Cup, it just doesn't make any sense.

As the Beeb put it the other night: Brazil number one, English Championship side's number three.

Grotesque, unbelievable, bizarre and unprecedented.

Just to add that we are paying him anywhere between £60-£100K per week depending on who's estimate you believe for the pleasure of warming our bench.

Not sure why all the angst against Cesar tbh

The CLUB offered him the contract terms
He accepted those
When we were relegated it appears both sides were happy for him to move IF another club came in for him I guess on terms both he and the club would accept
Big Phil threw a spanner in the works by effectively saying he would still make the WC squad if he hstayed with us as long as he's playing
He said he and his family would like to stay in London
No club has come in on terms acceptable to QPR or the player

What's wrong with any of that??

I think Harry thought he would go this window which is why Green has been playing
Now he seems to be staying I think he will be used.

For Christ sakes we've offloaded 18 odd players. I am completely fine if we are stuck with a born again Joey Barton and the BRAZILIAN NATIONAL GOALKEEPER!!

Get a sense of perspective. The club made the stupid deal, not the player. Get off his back. I'd like to see how many of you would drop maybe £20k a week in salary to move clubs. Very few I suspect.

A lot of moral high grounders around these parts.

Top post WBA my thoughts exactly

I'm totally with Wubba on this one...

Cant blame the bloke for taking what he's offered AND i think it could turn out well in the long run.

You can gaurantee that Green will either get injured or suffer a loss of form. Cesar is a fantastic back up to have on the bench.

Can anyone suggest anybody better that we could have realistically got to be our No.2 keeper? I seriously doubt it!

WBA is spot on IMO. If anything, his resolve to leave lessened after Scolari's words.

We fault his ambition but, if he fights his way back into the team, plays in the World Cup and collects his hefty wage, you can't fault his ambition at all.

Personally, I preferred the Morse code section of the thread. :D

All true mate but someone said a while back that our two Goalkeeper's combined wage almost equals our entire season-ticket sales!

Our wage bill is colossal and its totally unparalleled in Ch'ship history. Suppose the worst happened and we didn't go straight back up? We could be facing into a financial black hole.

The quality of the Goalkeeper is undoubted at this level but his cost is quite unbelievable.

Thats fair enough mate, but if uncle tony thinks he can afford it, then let him get on with it!!
May be a few cheap F1 cars going for sale soon......They'd look good on your automobile thread !
