"If somebody punches me in the face that doesn't mean I have an excuse to wield an axe across their neck." so that compares does it?
I have been provoked plenty of times in my life and have NEVER referred to some-ones race or colour...if I want to insult them I am more than happy to but don't EVER use racism to do so. As for Terry - his defence is NOT that he was provoked...it was that he called Ferdinand a **** and at no point used racism to him. He claims he said "who the **** are you accusing of calling you a black ****?" I have no idea what the truth is...but if found guilty then he deserves to be punished by the courts and by the fa and Chelsea FC
No it's just an example. The point is you respond within reason. When insulting people there are unwritten rules that you don't cross I.e bringing family, race, disability, sexual orientation into it
'' I can not believe that there are chelsea fans on here that think terry should be sacked for this. he said it to him self, hardly hurling abuse '' Spot on Lucky all these JT haters can fug right orf, it's a fuggin witch hunt
We all grasp the issue of racism. You don't seem to grasp the idea of over exaggeration, you Pommie ****er. Racist????? Not in my book, but some might disagree. Try living in Asia for 10 years as a white Anglo Saxon. When you have, come back and talk to me about not grasping racism.
Hello Lucky, are you looking forward too the new season mate I cant wait, got me ticket to the pre season friendly against Milan in Miami on the 28th hopefully see all our new signings
It's not really relevant if it's right or not. Some things are acceptable although in very bad taste while some cross a certain line.
Sorry if someone has answered it before but can anyone explain how the 'he actually said "'I didn't call you a BC" ' argument works when Ferdinand didn't hear it in the first place? Surely for that to be the explanation, Ferdinand would have had to have responded to it.
So if you have such a great grasp of racism then what's with the crap about lets just go have a pint. As for telling me that I need to live in asia as a white anglo saxon before I can talk to you about not grasping racism shows how arrogant or ignorant you are being. I deliberately stayed away from pointing out that I have had racist abuse thrown at me and my kids on the way to football matches cos some "anglo saxon" portsmouth fans decided they didn't want to share a tube train with us cos we "looked like ****ing terrorists"...If I told you that until you'd experienced that...or the letters with razorblades posted to us that my then 3 yr ol daughter picked up...then you have no right to comment on racism you'd be outraged. Racism is serious...there is no excuse for it ... end of ... that is why it is illegal.
Easy there CP. I don't think colinlee thinks Terry is a racist very few believe that but I think to brush it under the carpet as others have done isn't right, I'm not saying you have by the way
Well, what Terry's said is he thought he heard Ferdinand accuse him of calling him a fbc. Then after the game, he asked for Ferdinand so they could clear it up. He asked Ferdinand if he thought he'd called him an fbc. Supposedly, Ferdinand has then said nah and that they'd both said some bad things but it was cool. Then they talked about properties in LA.
DL...cheers...I have no idea if Terry is guilty or not and have said so... he denies calling ferdinand anything racist...if he is guilty then he will be punished ... my point was there is no justification for racism...a few have said Terry was provoked which is the point I was taking up ... along with the idea that racism ain't that bad and can be mended with a drink and a handshake.
Agree, the same people are slamming Blatter for saying a handshake should settle racism. There is absolutely no justification for racism in any way. That said JT is innocent until proven guilty in my book
Only if he is found guilty and none of us want that to be the case. But if he is found guilty of using verbal racial abuse with the intention of offending then, regretfully, he has to be sacked. If it were a fan who done that, they would be permanently banned from the ground. In fact, only recently did that happen: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-17933326 "A (Chelsea) fan has been banned for life from Chelsea football club after he admitted hurling racist abuse at Didier Drogba." If fans are banned for life, then why should we handle players or any staff member for that matter any differently? If anything, players have more reason to keep in line as they portray a much bigger and much more public representation of the club than any one fan. In all honesty, I do not wish to think about what we should do if he is found guilty as for the time being all we all want is for Terry to be cleared so that we can put this all behind us and focus on the new season ahead.
I don;t knwo how he possibly could be found guilty, the lip readers say it's impossible to read what he said, Ashley Cole didn;t react which you think he would've if he'd heard ANYONE shouting 'you black ****'. I don't like JT, but to try and take him to court is a ****ing joke and is a big waste of my tax money, ****ing useless CPS, spend the money doing a ****ing banker for fraud for **** sake
