4-2-3-1

Celar
Dembele Chair Poku
Vale Varane
Larkeche Morrison Mbengue Dunne
Walsh/Nardi

I really hope we go for a 3-5-2 (3-2-3-2). Especially at home to the likes of Preston:

Celar Burrell
Dembele Chair Poku
Vale Varane
Morrison Mbengue Dunne
Walsh/Nardi

But as mentioned previously - Who knows what he'll go for? Who's fit? What formation? Madsen? Goalkeeper? etc...
That's very aligned with my thoughts on selection at the moment.

Oh, I didn't watch on Saturday, so I didn't know that. Perhaps he had a knock?
I was speaking to a colleague whose brother is a Championship footballer a few weeks ago.
He mentioned his brother was going to get 60 minutes on Wednesday and 30 the Saturday after. It seemed the players knew in advance who would play in what friendlies a few weeks before and the conditions/scoreline during the game had little bearing on the starting 11 or subs.

I guess the management teams view them differently than supporters.

it certainly has made me look into the details of the game far less.

Like it but not a prayer

Every cub will have a different approach. Having being around the professional game in a coaching capacity for over 15 years I can tell you that pre season is all about fitness and tactics. Getting your team in shape in both senses of the word. What I find peculiar is that we haven't played with a centre forward and seem to rely on an out of possession game over a possession game, resulting in a counter attack philosophy. I hope this changes with either personnel coming back or new arrivals as it really isn't a 'bums on seat' style of play.

If he plans on playing Madson training on what to do once we lose possession may prove very wise!

Unfortunately, Jonathan Varane sustained a concussion in our friendly against Brentford last weekend. He is expected to be available for next Saturday’s fixture at Watford – in line with The FA’s concussion protocol.

Paul Smyth is progressing well from a minor groin injury sustained in pre-season. He has returned to training and is expected to be available for the trip to Watford, too.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Dunne sustained a hip injury against Brentford. He will undergo further scans this coming weekend to confirm a timeline for his return.

Taylor Richards picked up a hamstring injury in our friendly versus Cardiff and is expected to return at the end of August.

Finally, Michi Frey (calf) and Jake Clarke-Salter (post-surgical recovery) are both due to return to full training during the first international break of the season.

After watching 3 matches this is my starting 11
Walsh
Adamson Cook Mbengue Esquerdinha
Poku Varane Field Kolli
Kone Durrell

Dembele is too lightweight, Chair instead of Durrell or Kolli, perhaps?
Dunne in for Adamson when fit
