I think that's just the old cliche of nostalgia in sport though, like when people say there'll never be a better player than Pele in football. I think there are some great heavyweight contenders, it's just the old guard like Haye and Klitschko are refusing to retire and continue to demand fights with the young talent.

If this was a fight on pure know-how I reckon Wlad would destroy him, he's just been there and done it too much whereas Johsua has been fast-tracked and hasn't served his time. However, I do wonder if Wlad's mojo has gone and what his motivation is?

Therefore, it's a tough 'un to call.

I agree. I remember when Foreman came back at won it at something like 50 after years out of the ring, so ****e was the competition. Are you telling me it was better then than now?

I mean, Haye's just not gonna win a title now, is he? What's his motivation to continue? Like you said, Foreman won it at 45 in the 1990s, 20 years after losing to Ali. I think the competition is much better today than when Foreman regained it.

I don't think it's a cliche. This division is genuinely poor when you contrast it with others. Joshua has the potential to dominate this division for years. I don't see Wilder as any great shakes either.

I agree heavyweight isn't the best division as of now; I think it's middleweight with welterweight coming second. That being said, the division is still better than in the mid 90s.
 
Also, I think Tyson was a bit of an anomaly considering he's only 5'10. Most contenders in his day were all 6' plus and today the best heavyweights are ****ing huge in stature as well. I don't think a fighter below 6'2" would be a serious contender in the heavyweight division these days. Tyson was such a good fighter because of his brute force.

He gave away weight advantage to everyone he fought. He was an animal.

I think it was his aggression more than anything, most opponents had lost before the first bell sounded. I also remember Lewis completely schooling him.

8th round though. And Lewis was much taller than Tyson. I do think Tyson in his prime could beat the likes of Fury, Wlad and maybe even Joshua today. Guy was an animal. Tyson had great stamina as well but you didn't see it much cause his fights barely went passed 2nd round. His biggest weakness was not pacing himself right.

Head to head he makes nearly every respected boxing experts top 10 all time list. If AJ does beat a 40 year old Wlad on Saturday it proves nothing.

People talk about Wlad with absolute no boxing knowledge.

Wlad has faster hands and faster feet than AJ, maybe even at 40 years old.

AJ has terrible foot speed, terrible lateral movement and zero head movement. He doesn't even have a proper KO on his record, all his stoppages are accumulation not 1 punch KO power. All he has proved is that he can walk toward and beat up stiffs. Let's slow his hype train please until he actually shows something.

If you're just going to quote stats what is Wlads KO ration? Yeah it's pretty good as well.

Wlad could have gone through Tysons entire resume undefeated.

I'm sure we had this discussion when Wlad lost against Fury. You waxed lyrical about him then. He's really not that good.
