I remember David Kelly coming on for the makems at SJP to a round of applause

and with minutes remaining and an open goal promptley shot wide of the post

I'm sure I saw a smile on his face as we cheered <laugh>

reverse psychology needed perhaps ?

I loved Enrique and am no way bitter about him leaving us. It's for that reason I'm going to glide some tapas down to him on a paper airplane made out of an autographed photo of King Juan Carlos as he leaves the pitch at half time.

Judi.

I'll boo him at SJP, no hard feelings but its football, the entertainment industry, frankly panto. Unless the players left on ridiculously good terms or been sold on with the player not asking for it boo them to bits. We moan about the atmosphere being **** at St James', and now we moan about booing ex players?

What ?

Any noise is good noise, even if it makes no sense ? Find something to cheer about.

Was sad to see Jose go, he improved ten fold, but when we replaced him with Santon who at 20 is not far away from Jose and has got tons more potential then it wasn't so bad!

Reasons to boo Enrique:

1). Lacklustre performances towards the end of the season
2). Staying completely quiet for months and then suddenly leaving us in the lurch without a replacement LB
3). Making remarks about Ashley and co which dragged our club's name through the mud and caused a media stir which damaged the reputation of NUFC even more

4) Not posting on this forum anymore :( jajajaja

I love when people compare changing football clubs to changing jobs, as if it's so simple as earning more money. How about if YOU were Newcastle's number 9, would you bugger off to Liverpool for more money?

I think you'd have to be a complete ******** to boo Carroll or Enrique.

Bellamy however.....................

If the club told they didn't want me and accepted a bid, yes I suspect I would. That's football.

That's just one side of the story , although I do think it is the correct one.

There is no doubt that Carrolls agent was keen for the move, and hence got into his head that he needed a bigger contract than they were offering in the already ongoing negotiations. But most footballers are badly advised. The decision to sell came as a result of an astronomical bid, not his haggling over contracts etc. Anyone who thinks Ashley did not want that 35m and sold because Carroll wanted to leave is a moron to be honest. All said and done its a lot of money for any club to turn down, let alone one of our standing with our owner. We've done ok off the backof it. Not much has been spent but I shudder at what our transfer activity would have been without it!

Ashley certainly wanted the money, as did Carroll's agent but if that's all it took for him to give up his "lifelong dream" then he deserves abuse. There's no real threat they could really have offered, as Pardew would still have played him (just as he did with Barton when they wanted rid).

This

However I do think it's going to be a difficult game tonight. With Judas, Enrique and Bellamy playing....difficult to decide who to boo.

In all honesty I anticipate that there may even be non stop booing all game. Even when Judas, Enrique and Bellamy don't have the ball. I mean Gerrard Henderson et al.

True <laugh>

Every away fan should be given a free bottle of water at entrance so they can clear their throat once in a while.

Well we're not going to agree here. I personally think our fans are moronic and I can see why coming up here is seen as a poisoned chalice by many. For all the love you get while in form and while here, its polarised by our behaviour when they are out of form or leave. I don't think many of our fans realise how we are viewed as a club, our fans are jsut so unrealistic what modern football is about.

I'll agree to disagree. But I have to say I'm fairly certain all the other clubs in the PL boo all their ex players just the same as we do (unless they leave under good circumstances, which is incredibly rare).

Liverpool are similar to us for sure. They boo players regardless. Its just a modern football thing. Previously we did it differently, all clubs did. Players would only be booed where they'd made disparaging remarks after departure, or had poor discipline while there. Now you leave you're booed! Many clubs fans have moved with the times and accepted movement as part of football. It is whether people choose to like it or not, it'll continue to happen. Its like pissing and moaning on about Ashley, what is the point and what does it achieve? Nothing bar furthering the disappointment if anything.

It think most fans nationwide accept their clubs standing, what is realistic in terms of accepting transfer fees, and understanding how modern football works. I think we are slow on the uptake in this regard for whatever reason (possibly our fall from grace) and think it handicaps us.
